Our Constltution states "OBJEcf - The organlsation shall promote the welfare of the
aged in any manner which now or hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable
wlthin and approxlmate the Borough of Poole"
The trustees have revlewed the outcomes and achievements of our objertives and
activitles for the year, to ensure they remaln focused on our charitable aims and
continue to dellver benefit to the public. We have complied with the dutles under the
Charities Art 2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the
Commlsslon.

The Trustees and Commlttee of Management keep under constant revlew the major
rlsks and uncertainties facing the Charlty. Reserves are held at a level that the Trustees
consider prudent for the Charity to achieve Its obJectlves In vlew of the potentlal risks
identified.
We are a small org3nisation whlch Is run through our Trea5urerfs oflice which Is at 7
Dunyeat5 Road, Broad5tone, Dorset BH18 8AA.
When able to open, the Day Centre is open on Tuesdays from 10 am until 3 pm In the
Church Hall at Broadstone Unlted Reformed Church In Hlgher Blandford Road,
Broadstone. Bel￿een 10 and 20 elderly people come to the Day Centre where they
receive refreshments and a cooked meal.

Transport to the Day Centre for those who cannot be brought by their families or
Residential Homes is provlded mainly by taxis.
When possible, members are taken for a meal at a restaurant. The cost of the meal is
paid out of Day Centre funds.
When the Day Centre was not able to open because of Covld 19, we kept In touch with
our members bytelephone. We made dellverles of cakes and cream teas and took a few
members out for a meal when posslble.
At present our funds are boosted by the funds generated by our Charity Shop, but thls
income wlll cease if the owner5 decide to sell, as we only have a monthly tenanty
although the owners have agreed to glve us six month5, wrltten notice.
The Day Centre is stafFed by volunteers from the churches in Broadstone. The Shop is
also staffed by volunteers. We do not have any paid staff. There were no transactions
Vé4th related partie5 during the year.
The contlnuance of the Day Centre 15 only possible due to the loyal (and long term)
SUPPOrt of the volunteers in both It and the Shop.

I feport on the accounts of the charlty for the year ended 31 March 2024, which are
set out on pages 5 and 6.
Respectlve responsibllltles of members and examlner
The charÉty's trustees are responsible for the preparatlon of the accounts. The
tharity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for thls year (under section
1441 of the Charities Act 20111 and that an Independent examination Is required.
It is our respon5ibillty to".
examine the accounts (under sectlon 145{1}(al of the 2011 Act);
to follow the procedure5 laid down in the General Dlrectlons given by the
Charity Commlssioners lunder sectlon 145(5}Ibll of the 2011 Act); and
to state whether particular matters have come to our attentlon.
Basis of Independent examlnerfs report
My examlnatlon was carrled out in accordance wlth the General Dir•¢tlons 8iv•n bv
the Charity Commlssioners. An examinatlon includes a revlew of the accounting
records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented wlth those
records. It also includes conslderatlon of any unusual items or disclosures In the
accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any suth
matters. The procedures undertaken do not provlde all the evldence that would be
required In an audlt, and consequently we do not express an audit oplnion on the
view given by the accounts.
