The Gibbons Family Trust Trustees. Report The Trustees present the annual report Icgether with the finandal stal&menls of the Charity for the year ended 31 March 2026. This report has been produced in acceptanc& of the required changes under the Charities SORP 2026 Tier 1 reFM)rting regime for Charities with income below £500.000. tt is writt&n with reference to the 2025 Charity Govemance Code. Objectives and Actlvities The Trust deed for The Gibbons Family Trust was signed on November 12th 1984 beeen the 'SetllDrs' David Ernest Gibbons and Vera May Gibbgns with a payTnenl of £2,000 entrusted lo the 3 Founding Trustees. This endowment was subslanlially increased with th8 legacy from the late Vera Gibbons in 2010. after which the awards of grants began. The Deed of Th8 Gibbons Family Trust (G) allows grants for the welfare of children and young people up to the age of 25 in the County of Devon, and the Isle of Thanet in Kent. In the county of Devon preference is shown to children and young persons from the East Devon are?. The Trustees have the power lo use the funds lo cover a WKle variety of slluations, at their discretlon, to provide sald grants. The aclivlties only involve the Trustees in work needed for grant maklng, and no other voluntgers are used. Structure, Governance and Management The GFT is the sister Charity to The David Gibbons Foundation, (DGF) registered charity 1134727. These 2 Trusts have the same organisational structure and management, and the benefit of all levanl administrational costs being shared equally. This allows GFT to optimise grant maknng. al the moment the endowment of DGF is larger and therefore running costs are reimbursed from DGF. However, in time this situation could change, and the Truslees will review the eosts and charges for both Charities as needed. The GFT delfvers its objects via its board of Trustees. Truste8s are enlitled to hold office for life. However the Board lakes noti of Charities Commission guidance of the normal 9 year period of service with re-election every third year. These re-appointments lake place 8t the AGM as required each May. Due to the increase in demand over the last 3 years with more applicallons and meetings, the number of Truslees hag been expanded lo the maximum allowed in the Deed. The board now consists of 7 Trustees. As per the deed, the Trustees elect a Chair lo preside over meetings. Except for the Chalr (with a casting vote) of the m8eling, every Trustee has 1 vote on each issue. So far to dale. new Trustees have been appointed through a process that starts with a personal invitation or recommendation by another Trust88. An initial. infonnal meeting takes place, and if approved. the poterrtial Trustee is invited as a observer lo the next board meeting. Subject to the Tnjslees further approval they may then be invited to join the board, fomialised through the signing of Deed of Appoinlmenl, and assume full voting rights. The cuffenl Board skill mix indudes Gibbons, family membership, work in education. mediclna. and legal professions. as well as general life experience and qu81itles. Th8 Tnjstees are not remunerated but can claim reasonabl8 travel expenses in the course of their dut18s. No other payments to Trustees for services or other costs have been made. Page 2
The Gibbons Family Trust Trustees, Report (continued) The Trust contracts their Manager lo work from horne, which is efficient. effective and economic and Works very well for the Charity- Regular contact between her and Trustees allows for some business and occasional urgent grant making, beeen scheduled meetings. Th8 Trustees continue to be extremely grateful to their Trust manager. Cathy Houghton. for her complete, thorough and excellent management of every aspect of the Char1tS affairs. The Trust has been very active and now holds grant meetings every 8 w8eks and full advice is given on th8 websila on who can apply. how to apply, where to apply and what to expect. Meetings vary between on4ine and In-person events. Achievements and Porformance Since commencing grant making in 2010, the Trustees of GFT ar8 delighted lo announte they have provided 1.131 grants to the value of £1,673,176, up to 31 March 2026. Grants Awarded since 2010 £139.331. 8% £1,533.845. 92% GT8nts made lindfvidudsl Grants Thade lorgani5atlffis The positive impact of this lo residents of Devtsn and Thanet. over so many years, would be hard to quantify now. However through the increasing vigilance using granl monitoring fomis, the Trustees are aware of the importance of, and need for. their grants - both to charitable organisation with many young benefi¢iories. and indivKlual families in desperale need of urgent day-to-day support for thelr children. Multiple tlmes recently the GFT has been lohj that this is the hardest of environments in which lo raise funds. and sadly the Tnjslees are being infomied of former charitsble beneficiaries having to close their doors now. This makes the Trusts. grant making more important than ever. Page 3

The appendices allached to these accounts list all grants made lo charitable organi5alions, in the year to 31 March 2026. The following gives more detail on the impact of the local community, from some of these larger grants.. Mama lo Mama - £5,000 - the largest grant of the year from GFT to any beneficiary. and the 2nd grant to this baby bank in Thanel. which supports those in financial need either before or after the birth. Mama to Mama provides essential pre-loved items as well as grants, workshops and financial support - to improve the lives of babies and childr8n in the Thanet arg?. This recent grant was for 78 ¢hlldren who were experienclng bedroom povety - and helped provide cots I beds I bedding. The impact of a child not sleeping well can be felt throughout the whole famlly.. such as on a parent's ability to work, and has a direct consequence on the child's growth, d8velopmenl and leaming both at home and in the community. 2. Open Door Exmouth - £4,000 was awarded lo Ihis Charity whose website headline is 'At the Heart of our Community since 1995,. B@een GFT and DGF. this was their 14th grant., the Tnjstees have long been supportive the wide range of essential services and practical Interventions for Exmouth residents. This grant was specific to their 'Toast Youth Café, which runs lce a week after school. This provides a safe and fiiendly space for young people to hang out, do homework. have snacks, and engage in activity sessions. The grant goes part way to ensuring these services are free to the young people (who also have access to their Community Fridge). Giving these young people a place to eat & drink, leam. communicate make friends. helps keep them off the streets or perhaps means less time in a difficult home enwronment. 3. Care for Kids North Devon - £3.000 - the 1st grant tr) this Charity awarded by the GFT. Thls Charity helps North Devon families who have a v8ry poorly child, through grants. and also supports improvewnents to the local hospital children's ward. They applied for a grant to support 3 families with children facing a life-threatening diagnosis. These families were struggling to meet the cost of Iravelling to SP8cialisl children's hospitals outside the area. and were losing their earnings at the same time. This helps bring some stability and pea of mind to the parents during this incredibly difficult lim8, helping them to continue functioning as best they can in family and community life. Page 5
The Gibbons Family Trust Trustees. Report (continued) Flnancial Revlew All income received is from invested funds- these are the CCLA Ethical Fund £47,229. the CCLA Property Fund £45.795- CAF Bank £700- and a small share holding in Hydro-hotel Eastboume Ltd £599 {inheriled from the Estate of Vera Gibbons). This makes for total income of £94.323, slightly less than the prior year £94,775. Turbulen in intemetional markets and world polliics have been reflected in the capital value of th holdings. as detaIlj below. Despite this turbulence inwme though has remained fairfy Steady. The Trustees welcomed Ihe recent news from CCLA that the ElhiGal Fund dMdend8 are increasing by in 2026. The Board has long been awaTr that retums from the Propety Fund are higher than those of the Ethical Fund,- al the 31 March 2026 the welds were 5.24% and 3.410A respectively. However, the Property Fund is of higher risk and cannot be liquidated quickly16-month nolice period applies). A5 menlroned above. the runnlng cnsts for both this Charity and the DGF are or will be, covered by the DGF drawing down fvnds al the instruction of the Trustees, lo optimize grant making. No drawdowns in this financial year ended 31 March 2026 were needed. Post year end GFT dr8w down £20.000 from the CCLA Ethical Fund. with payment being received in April 2026. Office costs have incr&ased for thls year, from £17,679 in 2025 to £24,769 in 2026. The most significant reason for this increase is the higher wages of the Manager,. due to increasing number and complexity of applications and produre$. the introduction of Al, longer Trustee meetings. Other cost increases include a rise in n8sary IT bills. and the cost of in-person meetings. Reserves and Investments The total Endowment Fund at 31st March 2026 was £2.281,025 (2025.. £2,409,680); being £1,408.456 in the CCLA Ethical Fund 161°Al,' £857,589 {37%) in the CCLA Propety fund.. and £14,980 in Hydro-Hotel Eastboume Ltd. Net unrealised losses of £128,655 arg shown in the Investment note, mostly due to the fall in the Ethical Fund v8lue of £141.164 (do" -piIc amall gain in the Propoty Fund). Under the new ownership of Jupiter Asset Management since Febnjary 2026, CCLA have sugges18d that the £15 billion of their assets specialising in charities, local councils and religious institutions will relain its brand. elhgs and culture. The Trustees are hopeful that this will be the case and investments may be more productive under the umbrella of a larger corporation. The Trustees have been closely monitoring the persistent underperformance of the CCLA Ethical Fund, for some lime. The Trustees are very mindfvl of their reliance on this income from CCLA to fulfil the objects of this Charity- The changes at CCLA have therefore caused some concem. The Trustees would prefer not to take any acliDf7 on current investments, but due diligence suggests infomalion gathering now rnay be important. The Trustees could look further afield and consider moving some capital either within CCLA or spread the portfolio using other investment organisations. Therefore, meetings 2re planned this year with CCLA and other financial advisors to gain sufficient information lo justify any decisions by Ihe Trustees. Page 6
The Gibbons Family Trust Trustees. Report {continued) Total Reserves on the Balance Sheet al 31 March 2026 were £2,287,99012025: £2,489,100). Of this £6,965 were Unrestrlcted Reserves, the rest being Expendable Endowm&nl. Other than 2 small, pledged grants of £3.960 Iwhlch are not yel confirmed and therefore commllled) this Trust has no comrnilments to grantees and mlnimal running costs. therefore the bulk of these total reserves of could be considered Free Reserves. This means that there is no specific Reserves balance that is required to be held by the GFT and no I$SU8s regarding going concern. Discussions regularly take place at Trustee meetings on how best to balance Reserves held now, diminishing these Reserves through drawdowns for grant making purposes.. and the longevity of this Trust. At present the Trustees are open to calling on reserves as and when needed for grants, with no fixed agenda for the amount hdd in reserves in the long-term. Conversations will continue to be held on this. by the Trustees. Plans for future periods As noted above, in the short term the main focus of the Trustees is the potential diversificAllon of their investment portrolio, in the interests of tyng to protect their capital in an uncertain economlc world. In lemis of grant-making there are no signfficant plan5 for chang8. This Trust has aNvays been reactive lo applications, rathar than proactively changing grant policies or focus. However. at Trustee meetings tt is regulaTly noted how the nature and type of application has changed over the past few years. There are more applications for," urgent, day-tdaY applicats'ons for basic financial assistance. lechnology, children's mental health and learning difficulties. The Trustees will Continue to monitor thls and change their application and grant making policies where needed and appropriate. Sustainability With sustainabilty in mind, the Trustees are growing Increasingty aware of the Charitls impactr, how it is run, what grants are made for, where their investments are held. This is demonstrated through the following.. The Charity now operates from a hOMbaSed environment, other than for most Trustee meetings being in-person. This reduces travellin9 time and cost,. improve5 safety, and operating efficiencies and effectiveness wth minimal environmental impact. The Charities are almost papedess. and a8k all correspondents lo respect this. For this reason, the registered office address is not shown on the website. The appliGation forms for individuals now r8quests the Sponsor considers sustainability, particularfy by asking them to state if they have tried lo source recycled goods before apptying for new. The Trustees are looking for applicants who can demonstrate value for potential grant rnoney, and make wise ethical choices were they can. For example, charities that both help disadvantaged groups through adivities wilh an environmental focus, are being received MO frequenlly and are welcomed. As noted above the Trust currently has a substantial sum invested with the CCLA Ethical Fund, and even if investment changes are made ESG will remain a priority. Some of the Trustees regulady attend the local CCLA investfflent seminar which always includ8s a valuable and informative discussion of the ESG policies and practices thal CCLA is endorsing or introducing.
