## **Intercessors for Britain Trust** # **TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS FOR YEAR TO 30TH SEPTEMBER 2022** The Intercessors for Britain Trust is constituted by Deed of Trust, dated 9[th] November 1984. Registered Charity Number 290664. ## **Charity’s principal address:** 14 Orchard Road, Moreton, Wirral, Merseyside, CH46 8TS. ## **Trustees who served during the year:** Mr Anthony Turner (retired 1[st] January 2022) Mr David Goodman, Chairman Mr Raymond Borlase (deceased 30[th] August 2022) Mr Keith Miller Mr Paul Duffett (retired 14[th] December 2021) Mr David Murray ## **Officers of the Charity:** Mr Ashley Thompson and Mr Josh Macdonald served as Co-Directors. ## **Structure, governance and management** The leadership of the Trust is undertaken by the Co-Directors, who are responsible for the day-to-day management of the Trust. Operational policies, strategic direction and planning are determined by the Directors together with the Trustees. The Trustees met four times during the year. Administration is undertaken by the CoDirectors, assisted by Mrs Val Borlase. New Trustees are appointed by agreement between the existing Trustees. With the passing-on of Mr Raymond Borlase in August 2022, the Trust has sadly lost its longest Director (1984-2007) and a faithful Trustee (2010-2022) ## **Objectives and activities** The Object of the Trust is the advancement of Christianity, particularly through teaching and encouragement of intercession, the production and distribution of Christian literature and other instructional material. In so doing, the Trust seeks to be a moral voice to the church and the nation. The principal activities are the publication of the bi-monthly Prayer Bulletin, the organisation of Prayer and Bible Conferences for Bible teaching and corporate prayer, the production of Christian literature and the dissemination of resource material for prayer. IFB is open to all Bible-believing Christians, who will commit to praying regularly for the United Kingdom. Through Bible teaching and instruction, encouragement and facilitation in intercession, it resources Christians regardless of church affiliation. All its online conferences, YouTube videos and printed publications and any other Bible teaching materials are provided free of charge or at nominal cost. IFB is concerned for the highest wellbeing of our nation and its institutions. The Trustees are satisfied that, in the activities and achievements during the year, they have complied with their duty under section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 in regard to public benefit. ## **Achievements and Performance** During the year IFB has held two Prayer & Bible conferences, four Prayer & Bible days, and four online prayer days using Zoom, the last being particularly well attended. The Co-Directors have also undertaken several speaking engagements at churches and other groups. The bi-monthly Prayer Bulletin for signed-up members continues to be a valued resource for intercession on behalf of the nation. In response to daily news reports of concern for Christian witness and testimony, IFB regularly posts comments on its Facebook page highlighting key issues for prayer. These posts are also disseminated via Twitter and in weekly emails for those who don’t follow Facebook or Twitter. The Bible teaching provided for in-person and online meetings is recorded and published on IFB’s YouTube channel, which is attracting an increasing number of subscribers. A new booklet ‘Introduction to Intercession’ was published and distributed. In connection with this, 10 videos on prayer were scripted, edited and published on the IFB website and YouTube channel. While we see a continuing decline in members who receive the Prayer Bulletin by post, email membership has grown slightly though with this group there are questions over the level of commitment to pray. However, it has been encouraging to note continued growth of engagement through the social media platforms and YouTube. With the passing of Mr Raymond Borlase, the 4-monthly publication of ‘The Watchman’ booklet ceased in May 2022 after more than 12 years. For the coming year, two Prayer & Bible conferences are planned, one of which will be family-friendly (a) by making provision for the children during conference sessions and (b) by promoting sponsorship whereby the personal expense of attending may be mitigated for those who could not otherwise afford to come. In addition to the conferences, Prayer & Bible days will be organized in various parts of the country, together with intervening online prayer days. There are plans to produce a booklet examining the Union of the United Kingdom, and possibly one looking into the impact on the nation of global issues which have emerged during the COVID pandemic. Endeavours to increase membership and social media reach, with particular focus on younger generations, will continue. It remains an objective to start regular Zoom prayer evenings for the 20s–30s age bracket when resources permit. Our Administrator, Mrs Val Borlase, will be retiring in the Spring of 2023, so a search for her replacement will be necessary. ## **Financial Review** The Trust’s bank accounts during the year were with Barclays Bank and Santander, and savings accounts with Redwood Bank. The Santander account was closed in October 2022. Donation income increased by 14% and the Trust received further gifts from Wills of £24,245 as a result of which total assets at 30[th] September 2022 rose to £127,747. We give thanks to God for this generous provision. During the year, a payroll system has been established, and with effect from July 2022 the Co-Directors and Mrs Val Borlase were brought onto payroll. Prior to this they were paid fees as self-employed workers and Mrs Borlase received an honorarium in recognition of her contribution to the administration of the Trust. Each year the Trustees may decide to make modest gifts to other Christian organisations; this year seven organisations received such gifts. Other than the payment of expenses, no Trustees have received any remuneration.
