iety. The need f￿ our seNices conltnuos to ncxe8se, and. our OCLupancy rateg ¢onlinue at a high level.
ThroL¢ghout the year our 25 supported unts were cccupied by a total of 60 dients12023.' 56 clients). l am ple888d
to report that there were 35 12023.. 311 cllent moves from our accomn￿dat10n during the year, of which 88%
{2023'. 71%) wete planned, thus enabling 3112023.. 221 pxf(ive outcomes as a r8suII of our 8UPPOrt pro3ramme.
The w￿k th81 we do does change people's Iwes, and this is contlnually verified by the many posthve testinKJntals
that residents have given when they move on from wr supported accornmodat#)n.
We have always ffraintaineil our prO￿rITeS to a very high standard. and are CDntinually looking for ways to
improve the properties in order lo give our restdents the twl possible eXperIen￿ whilst wlth us. Th
improvements ensure that our residents continue lo live in 8 safe, Se￿re and dean envirwmenl. Their wellbeing
1$ also enhancfjd by the support 8fKI erthuTrJement that our staff glves to each resident to enable them to
evenlualty move on to independent liviTrJ.

We h8v8 always staffed our Projects al a much highar rata than thAI which has been funded by WSCC through the
Supporting People Programme. Our contract ran until 3(>th September 2024. and is in the C￿rse of being
renewed for a further etghteen months to 31st March 2026. 1 am pleased to report that WSCC continue to
acknowledge that our services are run at an ¢x¢eptionally ￿gh level, and that B(NJnor frlousing Trust IS 8
signiftcant asset in addrèssing homelessness.
We hav8 again throughout the yew continued to h&lp a siwificant number ol p6opl6 to integrate back into
mainstroam so¢iety. and to move on to independent Iwing. We are extremejy gratefijl to our team for the
dedication and support that is shown tr) 811 of our residents, often in the most diff￿ul1 of circumstances. l Sm
pleased to report that we have continuèd lo ¢JdiveT OUT seNces to a high stsndard throughout the last yèar. and
are conlnually doing evarything possible to ensure that our residents 8rg protscled and kept safe.
The charity is also grateful to our Trust8￿ who gwe their valuable tlme freely and make Bognor Housing Tmst 8n
organizalion that we are all proud of, and glad to support.

The resutts of Ihe charity are set out In the St8t&monl of Financkgl Activities.
Thg tol81 in¢orne in the year was £372,337. an increase of £57.321 over the previous year. Th& totsl èxpenditure
was £262.742. belng a decrease of £23,131 overthe previcus year. The over811 irKXQ8se in funds in the year w89
£109,595. and the 10t￿ of unreslrKtsd reserves at the year-end amounted lo £1.596,104 ofwhlch £944.213
pr$s$ntèd Fixed Assets.
A restrded fund has been set up by the tnjstees for a speC￿C Purpose. The fund total Is £395. The balan￿ is the
residual amount held in respect of a donation of £500 received from Sussex Police in the year ended 31 March
2022. The donation Ss restrlcted to be spènt only on furniture etc. for cliènts moving on from our supported
¥C￿MM0d￿ti0n.
It is the poticy of the charity that unre$th¢tgd liquid funds which have not been designated for a specific use shoukl
be maintained at a level equivalent to at least iwelve month's expendiiure-, this is to allowthe charily to bo
managed effl¢ientty 8fKI to WOVKle a bLrffer for uninterrupted servi¢9s. This level of reserves is currently in place.

The principal fvnding SOL>rcfrs for the charity are currently by way of rental Income leither direct or Ihrough
housing support) and from a contract with WSCC for Supported Houstng Services.
Risks and uncertainties
The trustees have assessed tho major risks lo which the charity Is exposed and S￿ Satssfied that systems a￿ in
place or Spear￿ actions agrè8d to mitigate exposure to these major rfsks. A risk register has been establishad arKI
is updated at least annually.
Plans for the futurn
The charity plans ¢onlinuing with those actwities ouilined abov&. whiGh are still ongoing, in the forthwming years
su*'ecl to Satisfactory fvnding arrangements. In add￿on the Trustees continue to revlew tha possibilities in
acquiring fLSrther propety. or carying out other seNKes which would er¢hanc6 and extend tre 3eFvices currently
available.

ognor Houslng Tnjst was founded In 1984 In Bognor Regls. Thè trust is an uftincorpor*ed 83sociation
governed by its own Constitution, first adoptad on 22 March 1984 and amended on 19 August 2003,
sub5eqLtenUy on 8 December 2009. The trust is a fygister&Y charity in accordance with the Charities Act 2011-
Charity RegistratM)n No. 289596.
The Sussgx Wast Area Meeting of the R4￿louS So¢iÈty of Friends lQu8ker31 will receive r￿MinatIOnS arKI
submit the n8mes of up to 6 people to be considered for membership of the Executiva Committeg. When one of
the members so appointed ceases to be a member of the Executive Commiitee, the Sussex West Area Meeting
will receive nominatKJns and submit the name of a replacement person to be considered for membership to the
Exe¢utlve Committee. The appointment of members to the Executlve Commlttee rnust be approved by at least
fourfifths of th& Executiw Committee.
The truste85 of thg charity are re8wn8ible for the overall management and control of the charity and receive
reports and recommendations from the Treasurer and other members of staff al regular Executive Committee
Meetings. Trustees of the charsty hold Offi￿ from the lime of appointment by the Executive Committee. The
Chaimièn and other officers of the charity must seek re*lecdon at every third annual general meeting
thereafter.
All servtng trustees are already familiar with the practical Work of the charity. Potential new trustees, who are
selected for their strengths and dwersty that they will be able to brtng to the Board, are Invited and encouraged to

the requlrements of the Charities Acl 2011 (Yhe Act'l-
I report in respect of my examination of tl7e Trusvs aceounts carried out under Secllon 145 of the Act and in
carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable directions given by the Charity Commission under
Section 145{5llbl of the Act.

confirm that l am qualified lo undertake the examination because l am a member of the Assoclation of

The financHI ststsments have been prepared under the historical cost convenllon wilh Items
recognised at cost or transaction value unless otherwise stsled in the ￿levant notes to these
accounts.
The financial statements have bean prepared In accordance wllh the charity's governing dcKumenl
and Slalement of Rocommended Practi￿= Accounting and Reporting by ChaFtties preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Report5ng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland {FRS 1021 {as amended for accounting ￿riodS commencing from 1 January 2019}.

Going COn￿M
The trustees consider that there are no maleylal uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue
as a going concem. The trust has unrestricted reserves sufficient to cover expenditure at the
current level for al least a further 12 months, has continuing income streams from char(table
activities, and has sufficient contro5 over costs.

All income is recognised once the charity has entitlement to the in¢ome. it is probable that the
income will b8 rece4ved and the amount ol the income receivable Gan be measured reliably.
Resources expended
All expenditure is accounted for on an acGruals bas￿ and includes 8ttribvtable VAT which cannol
bo recovered.
LSabililies are recognised when there is an obllgatlon at the Balance Sheet dale as a result of a past
event, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefit will b8 required in selllemenl, and the
amount of the s8tllement can be e$timaled reliably.
Liabilities are recognised at the amount that the charity ar)ticipates il will pay lo sellle the debt or
the amoLtnt it has re￿iVed as advanced payments for the gocxjs or services il must provtde.
Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the amounts required to settle the obligation.

of those amounts. discounted at the pre-tsx discount rale that re￿ects the rtsk specrfie to the
liability. The unwinding discount is recognised in the Stslemeftt of Financial Activities as a fin8nce

Depreciation on Fixtures and Fittings is calculated at rates considered necessary to wrSÉe the cost of
the asset off over its estimated useftjl life as follows.. 25°h reducing balance basis.
Freehold buildings ar8 maintained to such a stsndard that their residual value is at least equal to
their book value at any given time. Consequently no depreclation has been included in the year.

The charity is exempt from tax on Fts charitable activities.
Pensions
The charity operates a defined contribution pension scheme and the pension charge represents the
amounts payable by the charity lo the lund In re$￿ct of the year.

R A Kaveney FCA was paid £22,89712023= £21.2191 ft)r professional fees in th8 year relating to
accountancy and payroll services supplied by his company. Such payment is aulhorised in the
Constitution of Bognor Housing Trust.

A legacy of £14,387 was ￿e1Ve￿ from the estst8 of Neil Macdonald, bJether with miscellaneous
donatlons of £233.
