|Summary||of||the main|||||During 2022 most Trust activities moved progressively<br>back to normal|

||||||||||advantage<br>ofthe swimming<br>pool.|
||||||||||The cricket club's two teams competed<br>in the Devon Leagues however|
||||||||||the cricketing<br>highlight<br>was, without<br>doubt the Friday evening<br>junior|
||||||||||sessions<br>with up to 120children<br>aged from 5 —15participating<br>in|
||||||||||coaching<br>and playing<br>opportunities<br>with the same number<br>of parents<br>and|
||||||||||relatives<br>enjoying<br>the Clubhouse<br>social facilities.|
||||||||||The football club, although<br>with only one league team for the 2022/23|
||||||||||season also ran a successful<br>veteran's<br>team.|
||||||||||Chagford<br>Runners<br>continues<br>to thrive with twice weekly<br>runs, members|
||||||||||competing<br>in major events such as the London<br>Marathon<br>and organising|
||||||||||its two feature events ofthe year being the Two Hills Race and Run 4|
||||||||||Rosie whilst the tennis club also enjoyed a busy season.|
||||||||||A very welcome<br>new addition<br>to the roster of affiliated sports is Netball,|
||||||||||this activity is well supported<br>and will be entering<br>two teams<br>in the|
||||||||||Okehampton<br>league. The Trust will be providing<br>the funding<br>for the re-|
||||||||||marking<br>out (on the tennis courts) ofthe netball court lines to support the|
||||||||||club.|
||||||||||The Clubhouse<br>Gym and Studio began to increase membership<br>and|
||||||||||classes atter the COVID drop off but still have a way to go to return<br>to|
||||||||||2019levels.|
||||||||||The Trustees<br>remained<br>five in number<br>however the management|
||||||||||committee<br>greatly<br>benefited<br>from the addition<br>ofa Secretary/Project|
||||||||||Manager<br>(voluntary<br>role) and the increased<br>involvement<br>ofthe|
||||||||||Clubhouse<br>Administrator<br>in the day-to-day<br>financial<br>operation<br>ofthe|
||||||||||Trust.|

|~|Review||ofthe||charity's||As this report<br>is prepared<br>in 2023 it seems difficult to remember<br>that the||
||financial||position at the end||||UK entered 2022 with the COVID pandemic<br>still ongoing<br>and although||
||ofthe|period:|||||reduced there were still limited restrictions<br>in place that affected most||
||||||||businesses<br>and other organisations<br>to some degree.<br>Finally<br>in late||
||||||||February 2022 the last UK COVID restrictions<br>were lifted but on the same||
||||||||day Russia invaded<br>Ukraine<br>leading to the huge energy price increases||
||||||||that continue to impact every<br>individual<br>and business<br>and have a||
||||||||particularly<br>significant<br>effect on those organisations,<br>such as the Trust,||
||||||||which provides<br>energy intensive<br>operations<br>such as a swimming<br>pool.||
||||||||The rate ofincrease<br>in financial<br>activity<br>did not compensate<br>for the rate|of|
||||||||reduction<br>in government<br>financial<br>support for COVID affected||
||||||||organisations<br>meaning<br>that the Trust struggled<br>to match income and||
||||||||costs for the year and optional<br>spend<br>from unrestricted<br>funds (money||
||||||||available to the Trustees for discretionary<br>spend) had to be tightly||
||||||||controlled as the Trust operates<br>with minimal<br>reserves.||
|~|Explanation<br>of any<br>uncertainties<br>about the<br>charity<br>continuing<br>as a going<br>concern||||||Spending<br>control was necessary<br>despite the Trust benefiting<br>from a long<br>term fixed price energy deal for the swimming<br>pool which shielded<br>from<br>energy cost increases<br>through<br>into 2023. This obviously<br>means that 2023<br>has the potential<br>to be an even greater financial<br>challenge<br>for the Trust<br>than that experienced<br>since the onset of COVID in 2020 and is likely to||
||||||||require<br>additional<br>fund raising, the maximisation<br>of commercial||
||||||||opportunities<br>and cost mitigation<br>actions<br>in order to enable the Trust to||
||||||||continue to fulfil its primary<br>role of deliveding<br>recreational<br>opportunities|for|
||||||||residents<br>and visitors to Chagford<br>and its surrounding<br>parishes.||
||||||||The emphasis<br>going forward<br>through<br>2023 will be the raising<br>of additional||
||||||||funds to align with increased costs and maximising<br>the opportunities<br>for||
||||||||social use ofthe Clubhouse<br>in a manner<br>that is consistent<br>with its primary||
||||||||purpose as a recreational<br>and well being facility.||
||||||||Although<br>cautious about future funding<br>ofthe charity, the trustees<br>believe||
||||||||that they have taken steps to ensure that the facilities<br>will generate||
||||||||sufficient<br>income each year to more than meet the expenses of||
||||||||maintaining<br>them. Moreover, the recent development<br>of gym facilities<br>will||
||||||||start to create an additional<br>and sustainable<br>income source.||
