There is a new president of the club for each year which runs from July to June. They choose a charity to support, other ad hoc charities are also supported. There is a monthly transfer of £5 per club member paid out of their monthly subscriptions. The accumulated amount is paid to Foundation, Rotary international’s own charity, in July the following year and includes gift aid. Wheel House Account (WH)

The Wheel House is owned by the Rotary Club of Fareham Charitable Trust, and we pay a small annual rent to Fareham Borough Council (FBC) for the land it sits on. It is a single storey building by the sea and has a fully fitted kitchen and toilet. There are ample supplies of crockery and cutlery, as well as tables and chairs. It is mainly used by charities who pay a modest booking fee. People wanting to book it for

birthdays/anniversaries pay a higher fee. The income received pays for electricity, water, insurance, cleaning, FBC rent, repairs and maintenance, consumables and other expenses.

During the Covid – 19 lockdowns it couldn’t be used. We applied for and received the following grants which enabled us to carry out a much needed refurbishment of the Wheel House.

May 2020 Fareham Borough Council Grant £10,000

February 2021 Fareham Borough Council Grant £7,811.43

March 2021 Fareham Borough Council Grant £2,096.00

April 2021 Hammond Memorial Hall Trust Grant £3,930.00

Total Grants received in year 2020/2021 £13,837.43

The Fareham Borough Council grants didn’t ask what they were to be used for, but the Hammond Memorial Trust Grant did. We told them we were going to use the grant to replace 6 window and 2 door aluminium roller shutters with new ones. Replace damaged roofing felt and the 2 front windows which were too short, in order to rectify damp problems.

The Trustees meet twice a year in January and July
