FARRINGTONS PARENTS ASSOCIATION

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES For the Year Ended 30[th ] June 2022

The Trustees present their Annual Report together with the Financial Statement of the Association for the year ended 30[th ] June 2022 and confirm they comply with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011, the trust and the Charities SORP (FRS 102).

OBJECTIVES

The prime objective of the Association is to advance the education of the pupils at Farringtons School (hereinafter referred to as "The School") by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the School. As ancillary thereto, and in furtherance of the aforementioned objective, the Association shall:

The Association shall in no way seek to interfere with the discipline and work of the school (except as specifically requested by the Headmaster) or any other responsibility of the Governors and Headmaster.

In planning our activities for the year, we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our Trustee meetings.

After 2 years of Covid restrictions and limited activity we were so pleased that our annual Fireworks event took place and was a success as ever.

In November 2021 we did not hold Christmas Market but instead focused on what we could achieve. Ensuring the students at Farringtons still had a memorable time at Christmas. safety due to the covid, Junior school enjoyed being able to purchase gifts for loved ones at our Christmas gift shop, Father Christmas visited bearing gifts for the children and a visiting dance and drama group was enjoyed as well by Junior school. A Christmas raffle was held which Mr. Jackson drew online and we as always were so grateful for the generosity of our local community, the support from local business meant we had some fantastic raffle prizes including an iPad mini donated by Ethos Communications.

The new year started with the Mother’s Day Shop, meticulously planned by FPA members, with sourcing trips for gifts carried out by the FPA team, the March event was enjoyed by the pupils, giving them the independence to choose their own gifts for their loved ones. Thanks to Lisa, Lynsey, and the team for their hard work.

The FPA had lots of congratulations and positive feedback from following the quiz night which was our first official event in school post covid Rob Pacitto played the role of quiz master, we held a raffle and a fun game of heads and tails – there was even the suggestion from a. number of parents that we hold another quiz night in September 2022. Thanks, Rob, for making this event work.

We have followed quiz night with another special person’s gift shop to mark Father’s Day which was also well received by the students, and they were able again to choose some gifts. Thank you again to those FPA members and helpers who were able to facilitate this teamwork.

To help raise the FPA profile and gain more members amongst the school community, the monthly coffee mornings are now done termly with the focus being on information sharing. Teachers have taken on subjects that are pertinent to parents at the school. These mornings have been kept very relaxed with a short topical session followed by a Q & A session on related discussion topics – we have looked at social media with Mr. Young, careers with MS Miah and the Floreat Programme with Mr. Garwood. We have experienced a good turnout, a small raffle raises donations each coffee morning the raffle is drawn and the proceeds of raffle go to a charity chosen by Rev Verrier. Thanks to Roberta for making sure these happen with flourish.

The Uniform shop continues to be front stage and the face for the FPA, as reliable first call for parents for affordable great quality school uniform.

Most notably the shop is being given a facelift, it will be reopening soon. Thanks as always to Liz for her expert management and guidance. The FPA know how very lucky we are to have Claire now helping Liz with all things shop related.

Whilst the shop is being finished, they have worked to make sure parents are still able to access the shop online and they have been fulfilling orders remotely by visiting the shop contents which are at present located in the container behind the shop. They dedicate many hours, volunteering to manage and run the shop. Our continued thanks go to them both, and, by creating the new sub-committee, which has been made up of officers and committee members of the FPA we are highlighting both the importance and the appreciation of this area of FPA fundraising.

We held the Summer fun day this June after a break of two years. We have all been working tirelessly to ensure we have great attractions for kids, a fantastic BBQ as ever which is being manned by the catering team and lots stalls to peruse. Lynsey has been working hard to promote this via social media, we must all remember to like and share her posts when they pop up. We have had generous raffle prizes that appeal to everyone from a west end show to a signed football shirt, and some lovely beauty vouchers donated by royal parade beauty spa, the Royal parade beauty spa are always very generous with donating prizes for all of our raffles we are very grateful to them.
