Oblectlve5 and actlvltles
1. The objectives and activities ol our St Mary's Hospital Coronary Flow Trust ICFTI for the year ending 28 February
2024 remain unchanged and are focused on the promotion of research into arterial vessel disease and
trardiovascLJlar health. We have continued support for Imperial College Electrophysiolooy, a world class
subspecialty of cardiovascular disease. Our overall iemS1 lor research funding stream is lo provide support for
doctois in Ihelr egily research careers 10 88S181 thelr applications to the larger established grar)t organisations. e.g.,
British Heart Foundation. We, the CFT have. with the Foundation lor Circulatory Health IFFCHI, based our activity
from offices at both Sl Mary's Hospital clinical site and the Hammersmith Hospital campus. This spatr prowdes
essenllql research Offi￿ support,
2. We contlnue lo be active In background support ollunlor colleagues at Imperial College Trust lo support research
goals of the Trust. Exceptional funding has been given for travel grants lo specified individuals may further the
aims ol the Trust, lo the Annual Conference where dinical ar￿ research outcomes at Imperial college are
presented, to IT Support lor executives lo help further their work, and to projeds and relurblshment lor office
bullding and decorallve works to house those colleagues wrth a direct interest In the Trust.
3. In Fobruary 2021. the early work of the Coronary Fbw Trust wblh rosppcl to physlologlcal mgasurements of
coronary flow (J Davies, S Sen, el all were recognised by workl acknowledged QUK1elines wblBhed by the Joint
Cardiology Guldeline Committee ol the American College ol CardiologylAmerican Heart Association, projects based
on there works are In progress. There has been further development of eleclrophysiological research and support
through the fundiaising activitles fiorn Di Zach Whinnett recently appointed to the executive comrnlttee to provide
EP Sllsight loi giant applications Involving this speciality. The euirent dliectlon of research, which Is funded partly by
th8 CFT, is In examinlng the autonorni¢ n8rYous system conliol ol th8 aliiLJm of the he8rt wlh a vlew lo developlng
new technologies lo modify this important pathway in patients with lachy or brady arrhythmia.
4. The proposal lo slieamllne the funding into CFT named fellwshiF6 has advanced. These lellowsh'ps will have
the advantage of Idenlifylng the IndlvidLJals who have SUPFX)rted the Coronaiy Flow Trust and be named as CFT
fellowshlp5. The objectives and actlvlties have continued lo prlnclpally promote research into arterial disease of the
heart. Vve have been funding Inlerlrll support for young doctors movlng from an early trailllng arena lo research
activities and enable them to lind space lor developlng research based al Imperial College until successful grant
applications from established organlsalions have been achieved. We have Continued our association with the
foundation lor ¢irculalory health IFFCHI. Publications have and revolve around the development of IFR techniques,
that is to S3y pressure wire measureThents of a significant coronary stenosl8 in coronaiy artery disease. These
techniques have been developed and have achleved worldwde recognitlon and status and Ihelr beginnings are due
to the support from the St Mary's Coronary Flow Trust. The members ol the Executive Commlttee have paid due
regard to guvjance issued by the Charity Comffllsslon in decidlng the advisability of funditu lor such pioje¢ts.

the heart and publications have resulted from thk5 Important developing fle￿, based al Hamrnersrntth Hospital.

The Members of the Executive Committee have paid due regard lo guidance issued by the Charity Commission In
deeiding what activlbes the Trust should undertake.
Achievements and performance
The Coronary Flow Trust will continue to support individuals working within this domain and lo build on the
succe88es ol the last several years. The Trustees will atternpt to keep abreast of compliance issues in relation lo
governan￿ ol this charity, There arg many exatlng new developments including some early SUC￿$$ in
publishing work on pressure and flow rneasuremenl in native and experimental coronary artery models. This
represents a tnajor advance for the Trusvs aims and the TruBI will continue to develop this research and atteffl
lo obtain higher funding levels for Ihiq.

were world breaklng technologies In the idenlific3tlon of 8rteiial narrDwng Significance, there has been an
extension ol this success with groundbreaking publications In the New England Journal of Medicine IDr Rasha
Al-Lameel on triak where angloplasly and medlcal therapy are compared. This development ol an analysis lo
examine the basic principle ol whether coronary intervention will work or not, notwilhslanding the technologies
Used to defi.ne this suc¢ess, being a fundamental part of ¢lini¢al practi¢e. The CFT 18 proud to be part of thi8

The results lor the year are sel out on page 6.
The Members of the Executlve Commrttee have adopted a reserves policy that will. for a ￿tryear perfod, protect
the personnel involved in the developrnenl ol the Coronary Inlerventlonal database. The Executlve Committee
recognize that hawng satisfied numerous gi8rn1 applications over the last twelve month5, that we would look very
carefully al additional applications ir) an gttewpl lo keep the re8erves at £300,000. Currently the reserves of the
Trust are £323,754 comsyared to reserves held as 012023 of £334.807 and 2022 01 £358,158 .
The Executive Committee ha5 assessed the major risks to which the Trust is exposed, and are sallsfied that
systems are in place lo rniligale exposui8.
Plans for future periods
The Coron8ry Flow Trust Wll contlnue to supwrt individuals worklng wbthin Ils domain and lo build on the suc¢esses
ol the last several years. The Tru51ee5 will consider ajditional Trustees should this be required on the Executive
Committee, and the Trust will attempt to keep abre&sl ol complbgnce Issues In relation to governance ol this charlly.

The financial statements have been prepared In accordance with the Trusts Igoveming documentl, the
Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard appllcable in the UK and Republlc of
Ireland. I'FRS 102'18nd the Charities SORP "Accounllng and Reportlng by Charllies.. Slalemenl ol
Recommended Practice applieable to charities preparing their 2ccount8 In 8ccordance with the Financial
Reportlng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffectlve 1 January 20191. The
Trust Is 8 Publio Benefit Entity as dellned by FRS 102.
The Trust has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP lor charllbes not lo prepare a Slalement ol Cash
Flows.
The linan¢ial statements are prepared in slerllng. which the functlonal currency of the Trust. Monetary
amounts in these financbal 51alements are rounded to the nearest £.
The financlal slalemenls have been prepared under the hlslorical cost convention. The prlnclpal accounllng
policies adopted are set out Lelow.
1.2 Golng cohceTn
Al the lime of approving the financial slalemen18. the Members ot the Executive Committee have a
reasonable expe¢talion that the Trust has adequate r880uices to continue in operational existence for the
foreseeable future. Thus the Mernbers ol the Executive Committee continue to adopt the going Concern basis
of acoounling in preparing the flnanclal 8lalementB.
1.3 Charitable fund5
The Trust only holds unreslricled funds, these are lunds which can be used in accordance wlh the charitable
companys objectives. al the dls¢relion of the Executive Committee.
Reslrleled funds are subject lo spe¢iflc condltions by donors or gianlors as to how they may be used. The
purposes aThJ uses ol the reslricled funds are set out in the notes lo the fi'nancial 818lements.
Endowment funds are sublecl lo specific condllions by donors that the capital musl be malntalned by the
Tiust.
1.4 Income
Income Is reGognised when the Trust is legally entitled to it after any Ferforrnance conditions have been mel,
the arnounts can be measured reliably. and It Is probable that income will be recelved.
Cash donations are recognised on iecelpl. Other donations are recognised once the Trust has been notified ol
the donation, unless performance conditlon8 requlre deferral ol the amount. Income tax recover2ble in relation
lo donatlons recelved under Girt Aid or deeds ol covenanl18 recognlsed al the Ilme ol the donallor).
Voluntary income and donations are accounted for as reoeived by the Trust. All other Income Is accounted for
