LOMEC Trustees Annual Report for year ending 5[th] April 2023. ## **Introduction.** The Locke Oliphant Martineau Eversley Charity (LOMEC) is responsible for four Grade II Listed terraced cottages built in about 1900. They are called Martineau Cottage, Windings, Little Windings and Oakley. Being over 100 years old they need a fair amount of maintenance. The cottages were built following a series of poor harvests when there was a good deal of suffering among the inhabitants of Eversley. The nature of society has changed since then but the charity still attempts to cater for people with financial and housing difficulties who also have some connection with Eversley. Rents are maintained at below average rent levels for similar properties in the area. ## **Buildings Maintenance** The buildings themselves appear to be basically sound but as with most buildings of their age need constant attention, maintenance, and repair. Income from the rents received is put towards the costs of maintaining the cottages to a suitable standard. During the year, the tenants for all the cottages remained the same as in previous years save for the family in Martineau Cottage who moved to the Southwest of England. The subsequent vacancy was advertised locally, and a strong response was received from both existing inhabitants of Eversley and those who had family connections with the village.
