## **TRUSTEES REPORT 2020**

The year started well with both our halls at the Community Centre booked out, almost to capacity.

At the end of year meeting last year, the committee had agreed to put some safety issues high on their agenda, but with both halls fully booked they new this was not going to be an easy task. The electrics in both halls were in need of updating to the latest regulations and this was going to be disruptive and some closers may be required.

Then came Covid 19 and the first Lockdown. This was devastating to all the groups both young and old that use our Centre.

A chance to get some work done maybe? Electrics updated and tested, internal decorating as required, a new fire risk assessment and some minor repairs and maintenance?

What is the point of doing this work with the Centre closed and the date of reopening unknown? Will our funds last to we reopen fully and will all our groups come back?

Then, thank God, a gift of a Government Grant to help us through this pandemic, covering our expenses, and for Covid restrictions to be put in place including signage, hand cleansing and enhanced cleaning.

Trying to find trades to work during the Lockdowns was not easy as most were furloughed and would not work even in an empty building. However, with perseverance all the work required to keep our customers safe has been duly completed.

We have been able to open in a limited way for short periods, between lockdowns, but when they say on the Government Covid 19 website that Community Centres can open but groups cannot meet, this means we have had to remain closed as all our users are groups.

Our Centre is ready to open fully, or with restrictions. However, many of our groups may not be. They may have lost too many of their members for a host of different reasons, to make a comeback.

We look forward to getting back to normal, whatever that may be, but I think it will be a year or two yet.
