THE SKÅL CLUB OF LONDON BENEVOLENT FUND

ANNUAL REPORT Presented during the Skål Club of London AGM

The Trustees Tony Milhofer, Paul Mclean and Mats Wivesson along with the kind help of Diana Hall have continued to keep in touch with Skål London members, retired and widows whom have suffered difficult times over the last 12 months.

We regret to report the following retired members / widows sadly passed away during the year:-

Clayton Joyce Josephine Pitt

Thank you to those people whom kindly took the time to attend funerals representing the Benevolent Fund and Club to show all our respect to family and friends.

Christmas Hampers

The benevolent fund continued its annual provision of gift hampers and a few M&S Voucher substitutions for retired members and widows, and the fund received a great many number of thanks for the seasonal thought for them and in memory of their lost loved ones.

Veteran’s luncheon – Spring Luncheon

The fund historically subsidises a portion of the luncheon cost for retired’s and widow’s for the annual luncheon in which past, present members and friends join together to enjoy a great lunch and reminisce of past members and memories. Unfortunately Covid conditions prevented our usual gathering considering the age of our retired’ and widows.

Annual Draw

Our usual Annual Draw was held at the Spring luncheon in May.

The Trustees would like to thank the many very kind donators for their prizes which helped to raise the great sum of £609. As reported in previous years it has become continuously more difficult each year to raise decent prizes despite our pleas, we are all very familiar with the ever-increasing requests by so many other deserving charities and the increasing pressures put on people to donate.

The fund continues to receive donations from various retired’s, widows or families throughout the year and we make a special point in thanking them for their support. The fund continues to provide financial support for those in need and if eligible Trustee’s agree a fairly reasonable sum, which in many cases is to help towards funeral costs especially when the family are left with such sudden bills. We find from time to time that families at a later date if they feel they can, return the monies to the fund as a donation and we again thank these people for their continued support.

Financials

Financials for the last 12 months have been produced and approved by the trustees and prepared by an independent qualified person acting as auditor. The Benevolent Fund as a small charity has no obligation to produce fully audited financials however these records will be supplied as in previous years to the Charity Commission.

Diana Hall whom acts as the Benevolent Funds administrative assistant has continued to put in a great amount of time and effort in the last year which includes contact with all Retired members and Widows on our records. The fund reimburses Diana for her expenses in order to carry out this valuable assistance. This included and involves a lengthy task by personally contacting each and every person to ensure we still have the correct details and that they were well. Sadly, this task does reveal some illness’s but more sad the additional notification of passing away of Retired and or Widow members by their family and or partners whom were touched not only by our efforts to contact them but recall the regular contact we had maintained with their loved ones /parents over the many years. The Trustee’s would like to thank Diana for her kind and continued support over the last 12 months.
