At the end of Ihis year l affl pleased to rellect on strengthening
links be￿een the Parish coun￿1. the CGCA St.O's and the
HOrt￿X11tur￿I Society. l am pleased to thank my fellow
Committee members for their hard work and interest
throughoul the year. VlhiLst the GGCA has dona its best to stimulate activilies in the Villages
the organisations jO￿tlY have ensured Ihat the envirorsment we so enjoy INing in ha5 bee
maintsined lo a high standard and there have b8en plenty of activities to gel invotved with for
those who have wshed to do so.Recent events as for exarn￿ the Fh)wer Show and the
Scxrecrow Festtval have been paTtioJL3rty suctessful this year and help lo show our p05iti¥e
commLtn¥ty spirit .They have been well publiosed and widely approved across the
Islan(J.Perhaps. as there have been these large events this year, we have been a little
disappointed that not more ¥￿lagerS have thosen to tske part in the regular programme of
quizzes . folk events. whist, craft. bingo. sncM)ker arvj tN"Iliards. We have seen many more
people from outside Ihe villages attending these so itw have kept US going . We have well
maintained, safe and attrdCtNe premsses in the Village Hall and the Gallybagger Inn and the
Gardening Group. c4yJrdinaled by Debs GcM)denough, has made a very positive contrtbution lo
our tAantin9 and Maintenan￿ . Visitors to ourvillages often comment on how much goès on
here. Regular events are now 5L#wiuled for both the w￿lage Hail and the Gallybagger Inn and
we have kept the hire charges as low as pc6sible lo enable our parishioners to take advantage
of these h¥0 super facilities It is WMJ to note also that the Asswation still reFnains financially
solvent despite recent sett>acks as regards energy cx)sts and pricings and we still are able to
reinvest any profits back into the communty as we develop. We arg also able to host outside
ch8rity events whbch directly ber*fft ltr￿ ￿￿￿thy (xuses.
The Hall is now a wdl used and well equipped Spa￿ for those who use it. The kitchen is well
equipped and the increasing number of hi￿$ show that it is valued .There are regular
bookings on Mondays. Tuesdays . Fridays and Sundays and the village market.each month ,
is managed by different groups to both fitnd the Hall and lo ￿ntribUte lo other charities we
support. I would like to thank Zoe Rhind . fK)w has taken on a watching ar¥J helping brief
lo keep the Hall in tip top condibon. The new war memorid is now in pla￿ on the wall ofthe
Hall made from recyded slate aThJ new chairs are rrf)w in ￿a(8.
Facilities and equipment at The Gallybagger Inn continue to be improved. The bar area has
l)een further improved . We now have dr8ught lager on tap.there are extra thairs and
umbrellas. The bin store and the sI￿d help to keep the area tidy.TheTe are regular opening
limes and hirings which. in addjb.on to Snooker and Billiards. include Monday Whi8t and Craft
8ftemoons, monlhty Qurzzes, Birw and Folk nights.The Inn is well equipped and hosts Wight
Ukers on a Saturday momir¥J .We S￿￿v films when there is s demand for this. We also
respond lo requests for olher one off events as for eXarn￿. chan.ty fvr#lr3ising events.

events or to staff the bar and we are gratefijl io tkne vfilagers who will do this as well as
encrjuraging more to us.we are Pfesendy eworing a(zess to make it more accessible for
residents here .
The Comm5ttee has been grateful to Jill Webster vtho. via- Your Parish Matters". has helped us
to ryrculats our programme of events as well as to our Fac￿(M}k pagès, local publications and
the banners and posters we erect from time lo time . We are dways kM)king lor g(x)d ways to
broadcast our events thro1￿hout the Island.
Several high profile ev8nts spriThJ to mind . The S(w￿￿oW Festi￿ was a huge ev8nt with

over 100 ￿reCroW5 aThJ a brilliant supwting prL¥Jramm8 of music and refreshfflerts
through0￿ the week man*pJ by a ￿ed￿ted team of vdunteers.The Hallow8en Party last
autumn. the Christmas parties and the Vdlage Fete stag￿1 by Ihe Hth"cultural Swety which
was blessed by go(xJ weather and &njoye(J by nM)re visitors than ever.The Christmas Carols al
the Village Hall were also memorable brass band Mu￿¢ and where the Reverend Steve
entertained us as an elf. Village markets. ¢offee momiThJs and pleasant nights with friends in
the Gallybagger Inn have all been possible.
In closing I would add that. as last year, we k)ok for new volunteers lo join Ihe Committee or lo
help with parbwlar activities and the bar and hcpe that. in growing, we c3n C￿ntinue to provlde
a wdening range of actrwties to our community .
