CHAIRMANS REPORT
As Vice Chairnmn and a TnLStee of Old Town Youth Club I have been asked by The
Chairnian Mr Alan Homes to submit his report for 2021-2022.
I have been in Invol￿ed in the organisation sin¢¢ the 1980's when I was a very active club
member and I have always retained an interest in the organisation and connected to it.
In 2020, following a Conversation regarding the need for new Trustees, I was invTted to attend
a Manage]nent Committee me¢tillg, ￿,here upon I was invited to join the Management
Committee and become a Trustee.
I have found the Interesting and very testing during the difficuIt tiTnes causcd by Covid and
the Council's financial crisis and it's impact on the various community organisations and
consequenil}' the club.
S¢a Cadet Merger.
The proposed merger with Croydon Sea Cadets wqll now longer be going ahead.
Following their using of the premises and several meetings. the Sea Cadets made the decision
not to use the club dnd return to their 0}￿ premis¢s and withdraw from the proposed merger.
I hindsight this has been n]ote beneficial for and the local ￿M[￿u￿11Y &s we can now move
forward and can be utilis¢d by more local organisations and charities within the community.
Hareswith Pond .
This is our Outdoor Activity Centre and Nature Study Centre, locaied just outside of
Siorrinoton in Ivesl Sussex.
L'nfortunately the site been closed since February 2022. This is due to a large storm in
February which caused signtficant tree damage and also highlighted the ongoing problem
with Ash Die Back desease and fatling branches on the site. Following a site survey carried
out by OU￿elVeS . we made tht decisioll to temporarily close the site for heaIth and safety
reasons.
The Woodland Trust were contscted regarding the issue . and caTried out and theÉr own
independent site inspection. ThÈs resulted in a report and recornmendations for the future
upkeep and maintenance for Hareswith which we will k implementtng in the new year.
General care and Tnainlenance for both of the sites has always be¢n second to nonc and this
has continued, taking into account the issues that the pandemic brought us and also the
current tree problem at Hareswith.
A5 Vice chairnian I would like to that& the Tnjstees and the Management Committee for
their ongoing support and work to ensure that this organisation continues to thrive and Tegain
the busy programme we had before the pandemic.
l also have a Special thank you to all the Bellefacto￿ and frtends who continue to contribute
their time and iesources to support this organisation and keep it going as a complctcly self
funded organisalion, }'our support and contributions are invaluable.

TREASURERS REPORT
The AccounLS for the financial year April 2021 March .2022 showed a surplus of £24.343,
with a closing balance of £64,801. This was the result of Covid 19 Support G￿lts and staff
being put on Furlough uutil 30 September.
General Fund - shows that there is a £20.055 erediL against the credit of £21.686 of the
previous year. This was entirely due to the Covid 19 Grants of £17,167 and Furlough Grants
of £5,920 which offsct the loss of illcome from lettings due to the closure duriz]g Lockdowns
during the )'e2r. We did have some lettings when lockdowns wete not infoice with user
made responsible for their own cleaning of Covid 19 sanitation requirements. WÈth Furlough
ending staff resumed their nomal time5 fron] the l October. With the use of the premises
only gradually building up the opportunity was taken carry out Inainlenance wh¢n not requRred
to service the users or. the premises. Our thanks to our volunte¢r Tony Backsball, an old
member from the seventies, who comes in atmost every wr¢k to assist Tracy with things that
need to be done. Ace Vat2 Hire. based a few hundred yards from the club. continued to hiTe
the carpark when not needed and thi5 h&$ been a good regular source of income aIong with
Serenity SEN SchoDI and the Sea Cadets until they both left in July.

Minft Bus Fund - the Minibus Fund was clos
StorriD
ton Fund - Showed a surplus of £4,288 being up from the P￿vIouS year's surplus of
£3,061. This bcing as a result of the increase An Hiring due to Covid 19 blocking peoples usual

partially due to the increased hiring. Again thanks are given to the various parties who donated
tools, materials. time and labour, thes¢ person5 and companies being highlighted in both the
Chainnan's and Leaders reports.
We are thankful lo EK)ih CToydon and Horsham Councils for the Co&id 19 Rate Relief
resulting in no Business Rates being paid for the Croydon Old Town premises and very little
for the Storrington premises.

STORRINGTON was used again this year by 'family bubbles, most weekends during the summer and
