Structure, Governance and Management

Governing Document: The Friends of Oakview is governed by its Constitution, adopted 20 September 1979, as amended 24 September 1991, as amended 29 June 2023

Trustee Recruitment and Appointment: The charity in general meeting shall elect the offices and the other trustees. Membership is open to individuals over 18 or organisations who are approved by the trustees, as per the Constitution 29 June 2023 Part 2.

Organisational Structure: The Trustees are responsible for the overall management and control of the charity. Day-to-day activities are managed by the elected officers (Chair, Treasurer) and other active volunteers. Decisions are made and ratified at regular Trustee meetings, typically held bi-annually in May and November.

Related Parties: The Friends work closely with Oakview School to identify fundraising needs and support school projects. There are no other related party transactions to declare.

Objectives and Activities

To advance the education of the pupils of Oakview school; by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school (not normally provided by the local education authority) and as an ancillary thereto and in furtherance of this object the association may: (a)

foster more extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school: and (b) engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils attending it.

Organising social and fund-raising events to support the education and development of children and young people, who have various disabilities and attend Oak View School, and their parents. We also receive donations from parents and supporters of the school.

Achievements and Performance for the Year

The financial year 2023/2024 was exceptionally successful for the Friends of Oakview School. The strong support from the school community enabled us to generate significant income. The charity successfully raised a total income of £31,109 during the reporting period.

There was no expenditure during the 2023/2024 financial year, the entire income of £31,109 has been retained within the charity's accounts.

The majority of funds raised will be spent on a Ball Pool Refurbishment project, as determined by the Trustees in consultation with the school leadership.

Financial Review

Principal Funding Sources: Our principal funding sources continue to be donations from fundraising events and initiatives supported by parents, carers, and the wider school community.

Going Concern: After reviewing the charity's financial position and plans for the next financial year, the Trustees consider that the Friends of Oakview is a going concern.

Plans for Future Periods

Following the successful fundraising efforts and the significant balance accumulated in the 2023/2024 financial year, the Trustees plan to work closely with Oakview School to identify and fund key projects that will directly benefit the pupils. We will continue our fundraising efforts, alongside careful planning for the deployment of all funds raised.
