Achievements and performance
signif￿an1 activities and achievements against obiertives
The academic performance of all pupils is carefully monitored to ensure that each child wll fulfil their polenlial. 2025
saw the departing Year 11 pupils achieve an 81VD overall pass rate (England average 700kl. The pass rale in core
subjects was84/. Inationalaverage 71/01.Our high value-added scores saw pupils continue lo excèed
expectations
3% more pupils gained grade S and higher in English and Maths and 140/0 more pupls gained
grade 4 and higher in English and Maths. as measured againsl their expected outcome. As an indusive school, we
slnve lo ensure that no child is left behind and that all puwls achieve their own personal best. In 2025. the pass rale
for pupils with special educational needs was 71%.
Wyvern House opened in September 2023 and continues to expand. As a Secondary Swial Educational Needs
day sch¢xl setting, Wem offers a calm enmronment for pupils be￿n the ages of 11-16 wth a range of
neuroKliverse needs induding ADHD and ASD, to build Confiden￿ and prepare them for the ne*t stage of their
educational journey. AJI pupils who attend Wem have an EHCP.
Following the General Elect10n and the new Labour Govetnmenys annOUn￿rnent that VAT is to be appkecj to
IndetRndent School fees from January 2025. the School's finance team prepared a VAT irnplementation plan to
ensure they were ready to issue VAT inclusive fee invoices for the Spring Term and the first VAT Tetum as at the end
of February 2025.
The Head Teacher, Mrs Sarah George BA (H(￿$) PGCE and her stsff contsnue lo provide security and opportunities
for each child so that they may undertake their studies and development in a sale, happy environment The
Trustees are gratelul to the staff for their dedication lo the school and the way in which they project forward the
reputation of the school and instil confidence in the pupils who attend. The TrLtstees are fortunate to have the
support ol past pupils and an active PTA who assist the s¢hod in many ways.
Following the resignation of Mts Rebecca Parkyn in June 2025, Mrs Sarah Geotge who was deputy head at the
'me became acting head teacher until her fomial appointment followng a recTuilment process in SeptemLEr 2025
The SchoDI continues to be involved in managiThJ projects through the Cod(leshell Community Sport5 Club

in¢ome. Note that last year's surplus was significantly impacted by the one-off transler of freehold propety into the
charity. representing a donation in kind of £1,650,000. Investment in property Improvements in the Current year

It is the policy of the charity that unrestricted fvnds which have Thjt been design*ed for a specific use should be
maintained at a level equivalent to befv￿en three and six month's expenditure. The trustees Consider that reserves
al this level will ensure that, in the event of a sgnificanl drop in funding. they wll be able lo continue the ch2rity's
current activities while consideration is given to ways in which addilional ftnds may be raised. This level of reserves
has been maintained throughout the year.

The School maintains a Risk Register which is ieviewed regularly by the Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team.

To secure its long-term financial viability. the School has to balance the investsnenl it makes in rts staff and buildings
th Its funding, the key Sour￿ of which is ffye income. To ensure all its Commitments are met, the School has
robust management processes. These Indude forecasb.ng pupil numbers. detailed budgeting and cash flow
projections, whith are prepared by the Senior Leadership Team and Su￿.eCt to detailed scwtiny by Trustees.
Progress against this plan is fflonrtored continually by the Senior Leadership Team and lermly by Trustees.
Trustees also monitor the impact ol changes in govemmenl policy (including the inlroduction of VAT on fees and the
wilhdr8wal of charrtable ixjsiness rate reliefj on the viabilrty of the School.
Affordability
The School operates in a very ¢ornpelitive market with fees inueasing faster than earnings. and is conscrous that
the cost ol pnvale education is in¢rea5ingly beyond the financial means of many families. In addition. 8ffordability of
fees, and Iheiefore pupil nLJmbers, ￿ul¢j be affecled by wlitical and m￿r0-econOM1C factors. including the recent
introduction of VAT on school fees and increases in energy. food and other costs. Recognising this. the School looks
to ensure it achieves value for money in every area of Its operations. while maintaining the excellent all-round
edu￿1[0￿ for which it is renowned. The School continues to provide means-tested bursaries to ensure that as many
pupils as possible are able to benefit trom the educab.onal opportunits.es available.
Safety and securty of pupils, staff and premises
The Schwl aims to provide a safe and secure environment. in order lo safeguard and promote the wdlbeing of
pupils. st8ff and visitors. and to prevent reputational risk. To do Ihis rt has in pla￿ detailed policies and procedures
including in the areas of safeguarding children, anti-bullying, health and safety, physical security. Cyber-secuiity,
wellbeing and cnlical incident management. These p)Iicies are regularfy rewewed by Trustees Staff and pupils are
provided with detailed training. as appropriate, to ensure these policies are adhered to across the S¢hool In
particular, staff and Truslees undertake regular comprehensive safeguarding training. The School employs a Health
and Safety OffI￿r who, In conjunction wrth the Head and Senior Leadership Team. carries out regular inspections of
the School buildings and maintains vanous departmental risk assessments.

The Trustees recognise that slrong governance is essential lo the School's success. In order lo ensure Ihal
govemance is effective Trustees are appointed based upon a skills matnx. Comprehensive induction and refresher
training is provided to Trustees. Committee structures are in place. supFM)rted by cleaT terms of reference. Trustees

The School uses digital technology extensivety and aims to educate ts pupifs to use dEgrtal technology effecknvely
and safely. There are a number ol risks assouated with this use of technobgy, Ir￿lUding the risk of cyber-attack on
the School's IT systems and dats. safeguarding pupils and staff from the risk of onl+ne harffl, ensunng the safety
and security of personal data, and the risks Posed by artificial intelligence. These risks are mitigated by the
implementation of information securty, data protection. and acceptable use of IT policEs which are actively
monilofed by Trustees. and by a range of technical controls.

1.1 Accounting convention
The financial slalements have been prepared in acCOrdar￿ with the charity's deed of Irusl, the Memoran(fum
and Articles of Association, the Companies Act 2006. FRS 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable
in the UK and Republic of Ireland. I"FRS 1027 and the Charities SORP "Accounting and Reporting by
Charities." Slalemenl of Recomrnended Prathce applicabte lo charities preparing their accounts in acix>rdance
with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021" (effective 1
January 20191. The charity is a Public Benefit Entty as defined by FRS 102.
The financial stslements are prepared in sterfing, which is the fu￿tIOnal currency of the chanty. Mtsnelary
amounts in these finanaal statements are rounded to the nearest £_
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost Convention. The principal accounting
poliaes adopted are set out below.
