including using restricted fuNJs to protect arKI increase income. The restricted funds for EHC UK comprtse of
donations from many **Jnors, making rt an impractral siluat¥)n to contact all donors lo ask for perni5sion to use
the funds differently. A notice was placed on all repty slips indicab'rvj excess funds to proiecls would be used to
support other aspects of Every Home for Christ UK.

The Directots have established the tevel of reserwes that the crynpany ougm to have. Reserves will be defined as
funds that are freety availabla, separats from those that are designated gifts or those that are sat aside and
designaled for firture SFecific p￿>Ose$.
Reserves are required to bridge the gap belween incomiry resources from donatN)ns and events and spendlng
on running costs (office and newsletter) and o)mmitrnent5 to the international minislry.
The Board of Directors, allowing for 3 months njnning costs for office and newsletter commilments to Inlemattonal
ministries and provision for urgent humanitar*n ald. consider that Ihe Ideal level of reserves would be £12.000 lor

Recruitfflent and appointment of new trustees
As a charitable organisation and a limited company. EHCUK needs to ensure that it recrutls people lo serve on ils
board with the appropriate skills. aptitude and commitment. Board membership 15 a chance to ￿arn new. diverse
skills and ways of working. Each board member has a role in Ihe chariws Opera￿n. and not one trustee is more
important or accAJuntable than any olher.
Although EHCUK Trustees are not paid for IF￿1T services, this does not mean they are'amateurs, or
unprofe55ional. Trustees have an impjrtant say in the way Ihe charity supports and provides services.
Trustees have the ulllmale responsibility for Ihe management and *minislration of the organisation. As a limlted
company. they do not have personal liabilty fi)r the finances (unless the￿ has been negligence) and they are the
'employers' of all the staff. Trustees must act prudently at all times in the best interests of EHCUK and its users,
and are acts)unt2ble for the proper management of the tharity and its assets.

Trusteeship is a skill that grows over time with eXperien￿- aNJ with training ￿ere necessary. Bul the better
EHCUK handles the seleclN)n. recruitment and induction ol new.trustees at the outset. the greater Ihe immedlale
contribution they will be ab￿ lo make to the quality of EHCUK governance and its work. This is likely lo produce.
