British Schools Gymnastics Association – Chairman’s Report 2024-25

As Chairman of the British Schools Gymnastics Association, I am pleased to reflect on another successful and rewarding year for the organisation. Once again, our calendar was filled with exceptional events showcasing the dedication, skill, and enthusiasm of young gymnasts across the country.

A particular highlight was the outstanding Trampoline National Finals, which took place at the Derby Arena. The standard of competition was incredibly high, and the event was a true celebration of school sport at its best. I would like to thank our team of organisers, volunteers, and judges who made it possible.

The Milano Team and Schools Floor & Vault National Finals, held at Fenton Manor, were also great successes. These competitions continue to grow in stature and popularity, reflecting the deep enthusiasm for gymnastics in schools across all regions. We continue to see strong engagement from students, teachers, coaches and parents – a testament to the sport’s enduring appeal.

As we look ahead to the 2025/26 season, I am excited to share that several new initiatives are being developed to modernise the BSGA and broaden our school base. This includes introducing new levels of competition and fresh formats aimed at increasing accessibility and participation. These changes are designed to ensure that BSGA remains relevant and dynamic, offering opportunities to schools of all sizes and backgrounds.

Financially, the association remains in a healthy position, and this stability gives us a unique opportunity to invest in our future. I firmly believe that now is the time to begin laying the groundwork for the next decade. To that end, a key priority moving forward will be encouraging and developing a new generation of judges and officials. Without them, the long-term sustainability of our events and the high standards we strive for cannot be guaranteed.

We are committed to providing training and mentorship opportunities, ensuring that the passion and knowledge of today’s officials is passed on to the leaders of tomorrow. This will be a cornerstone of our strategy as we evolve and grow.

In closing, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to another outstanding year – our committee, regional organisers, volunteers, schools, coaches, and most importantly, the gymnasts. Your energy, dedication and love for the sport are the reason BSGA continues to thrive.

Let us move forward together with ambition, innovation, and a shared commitment to giving every young person the chance to shine through gymnastics.

Yours sincerely,

Jamie Weller
