## Trustees Report 2023/2024
The Association was founded in the early 1980’s and is registered charity number 285843. The Trustees of the Association were confirmed at a meeting held on 8[th] May 2023. They are now: Mr I Howard Todd (President)

I am delighted to present the Chairman’s report for the British Schools Gymnastics Association for the past year. It has been a year of tremendous achievements and growth for our association, marked by numerous successful events and exciting developments in various disciplines.
One of the highlights of the year was the Milano Team National Finals held in Stoke-on-Trent, which saw an impressive turnout with over 150 teams competing over the course of two days. This event showcased the talent and dedication of gymnasts from across the country, and I commend all participants for their hard work and commitment.
Under the leadership of Andi Revell, our Trampoline discipline has continued to excel, delivering remarkable performances and achievements. The Trampoline National Finals held at Telford were made possible through collaboration with British Gymnastics, thanks to the generous funding received. This collaboration underscores the importance of working together to support and promote gymnastics at all levels.
Another notable event on our calendar is the School Gym Weekend, featuring competitions in floor and vault, acrobatics, tumbling, and disability gymnastics. The National Finals will showcase the best of school gymnastics, with regional champions progressing to compete on the national stage. It is particularly rewarding to see new schools entered in the finals, reflecting the growing popularity and inclusivity of our sport.
However, amidst our successes, it is essential to acknowledge the challenges we face, particularly at the regional level. Our regional committees are facing a shortage of volunteers, and it is imperative that we attract new, younger members to ensure the sustainability of our organisation. We must actively work towards building a robust succession plan to maintain the continuity of our efforts and initiatives.
Furthermore, while we have been successful in retaining female participants in the sport, there is a pressing need to address the decline in male participation in the older age groups. By fostering an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all, we can encourage more males to join the sport, thereby diversifying our teams and fostering greater collaboration.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our sponsors, Milano Pro Sport, for their unwavering support and commitment to our organisation. Their contributions have been invaluable in enabling us to deliver highquality events and provide opportunities for our members.
In conclusion, I am immensely proud of the achievements of the British Schools Gymnastics Association over the past year. With continued dedication and collaboration, I am confident that we will overcome our challenges and continue to grow and thrive in the years to come.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT**
## **TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE BRITISH SCHOOLS GYMNASTICS ASSOCIATION** .
I report on the accounts of the Association for the year ended 31 March 2024 set out on the attached pages.
## **Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner**
As the charity trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts, you consider that the audit requirement of S43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under s43(7)(b) of the act whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of Independent Examiner’s Report**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison for the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
## **Independent Examiner’s Statement**
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention;
1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material aspect, the requirements:
To keep accounting records in accordance with s41 of the Act: and
To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and it comply with the accounting requirements of the Act.
Have not been met, or
2. To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
