Structure, Governance and Management
The Axe Valley Christian Trust is a registered charity governed by its Constitution and led by
a Board of Trustees who meet quarterly.
A person who is willing and eligible to act as a trustee, and who would not be disqualified
from this action, may be appointed to be a trustee by a decision of the trustees. Trustees with
relevant knowledge, skills or experience are appointed for the effective administration of the
charity.
Any decision of the trustees must be either by decision of a majority of the trustees present
and voting at a quorate trustees, meeting, or when the majority of trustees have indicated to
all the trustees by any means (including email) that they share a common view on a matter.
Objects, organisation and activities

people in the Christian Faith, through the Upcott Christian community and in accordance with
the Basis of Belief, including..
o training in Christian work and service
o teaching Christianity to people
o to minister to the needs of people as God direrts
o supporting the promotion of the Christian Gospel as God directs.
In the event of the Upcott Christian Community ceasing to function, the above aims are to be
carried out as the Trustees deem fit in accordance with the Basis of Belief.

Review of progress and achievements
We have seen the continued development of the mentoring and leadership programs, and
we have been working on developing partnerships with other churches and organisations
where we can establish long term mutually fruitful relationships.
The year-round discipleship programs continue to run, making more of these sessions in
person where feasible.
Also, the young leaders, program is progressing well, as we equip our young people to
become leaders in their own right, on our own weeks and courses as well as in other settings.
A significant part of our work is funded by the incomelgains from our investment portfolio,
managed by professional wealth managers. Our investment policy is to invest in low to
medium risk ethical investments. During the financial year investment performance in general
was lower than in the previous year, due to global volatilities, and we withdrew slightly more
money than was earned/gained on the portfolio. We continue to review the performance of
our wealth managers and are satisfied that they are managing the performance of our
investments in line with market performance.
We continue to assess and shape the work of the Trust on an ongoing basis to ensure we
achieve our vision in the best possible way. We extend our warmest thanks to all our
supporters, financial and otherwise, and volunteers for their continued support of our work.
Future Plans
In accordance with the general recommendations of the Charities Commission that the new
legal form of a Charitable Incorporated Organisation ICIOI is a more suitable format for
charities to operate under, the operations and assets of Avct have been transferred to the
Upcott Christian Trust Icharity no. 12106041 on 0110812025. The objectives and activities of
AVCT will continue unchanged under the Upcott Christian Trust IUCTI.
The UCT plans to continue the activities outlined above in forthcoming years and to continue
to continue to build the number of people we are supporting with our activities, as well as
the resource to provide these activities. This will include forming partnerships with like-
minded organisations to support them in the development needs of their people and
activities.

operational, governance, compliance and risks to the organisation. Given that AVCT is winding
up land continuing as UCTI, reserves will be held by the CIO going forward.
