TRUSTEES, REPORT
The trustees present their annual report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31"
July 2024.
Constltution and objects for the public benefit
The charity is governed by its constitution, last revised in June 2002. The constitution contain5 no
restrictions. It is administered by a committee. members of which are elected at the Annual General Meeting
to serve for a minimum of three years. Committee members are recruited from the membership of the cholr
and act as the charit￿5 trustees. Induction training is provided for all new trustee5.
The trustees confirm that they have made reference to the guidance of the Charities CommissSon general
guldance on public benefits when reviewing their aims. objectives and future activities of the charity.
The object5 of the charity are to Improve public appreciation of music through choral concerts.
Revlew of the Development, Actlvltles and Achlevements of the Charlty, and how the Charlty dellvers
public benefit
The surplus for the year amounted to £2.247.
Reserves
The accumulated funds as at 31" July 2024 were £94.549 of which £1,250 related to designated funds.
The trustees have determined that an appropriate level of available reserves should be equivalent to at least
twelve months, expenditure.
Investments
The charity's constitution requifes its asset5 to be invested in Great Britaln, In bank accounts or safe interest-
bearing Securities.

Major risks
The trustees have taken steps to identify the major risks to which the charity 15 exposed, and systems have
been established to mitigate those risks.
Future Development
The Choir's Centenary year concludes in December 2024 and following the retirement of Andrew Lucas in
july, the choir welcomes it5 new conductor, William Fo¥. from September 2024.
Tru5tees' Responsibilities In relatlon to the Financial Statements
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees. Report and the financial statements in accordance
with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Stsndards.
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements
for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming
resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statement5,
the trustees are required to.,
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them tonsistently,.
Make judgements and estimate5 that are reasonable and prudent,.
Observe the methods and principle5 in the Charities SORP 2019 IFRS 1021,.
State whether applicable accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any materi31
departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements,.
Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless It is Inappropriate to presume
the charity wlll continue in operatlon.
The trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any
time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statemerbts comply
with the Charitie5 Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence
for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF ST ALBANS BACH CHOIR
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31" July
2024 which are set out on pages I to 19.
Responsibilities and basls of report
As the charltWs trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in a¢¢ordance with the
requirements of the Charities Act 20111'the Art'l.
1 report in respect of my examSnation of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and
in carrying Out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 1451Sllbl of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no materlal matters have come to my attentlon in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any materlal respect:
accounting records were not kept in respert of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concernin8 the form and content of
accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement
that the accounts 8ive a 'true and fair view, which is not a matter considered as part of an independent
examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which
attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be
reached.

Accounting policie5
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance
with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 (issued
in October 20191- (Charities SORP IFRS 10211, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charities Att 2011. Assets and liabilities are initially
recognised at historic cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting
policy note.
The financial statements have been prepared to give a 'true and falr, vlew and have therefore
necessarily departed from the extant Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to the
extent required to provide a 'true and fairf view. This departure has involved following the
statement of Recommended Practice.. Accounting and Reporting by Charitie5 applicable to charities
preparing their financial statements in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable
in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 issued on 16 July 2014 rather than the Statement of
Recommended Practice.. Accounting and Reporting by Charities effective from l April 2005, which
has since been withdrawn.
The charity meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102.
All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basls and has been classified under headings that
aggregate als costs to that tate8Qry.
Golng Concern
At the time of approving the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that
the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.
Thus the trustees continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial
statements.
Income
Voluntary income includin8 donation5 are recognised where there is entitlement, certainty of
receipt and the amount can be measured with sufficient reliability.
Subscription income is recognised when received from members.
Concert income represents the gross receipts. A breakdown of the income and expenditure for each
concert is shown in the notes to the accounts.
Expenditure and irreci)verable VAT
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to make a payment to o
third party. it is probable that Settlement will be required and the amount of the obligation can be
measured reliably.
Irrecoverable VAT is charged as a cost against the activity for which the expenditure was incurred.

Investments
Investments in equity instruments which are not subsidiaries, associates or joint ventures, are
Initially measured at fair value, which is normally the transaction price. Such assets are subsequently
carried at fair value and the changes in fair value are recognised in the profit and loss accounts.
Flxed assets
Individual fixed assets costing £500 or more are capitalised at cost and are depreciated over their
estimated useful economic lives on a Straight line basis as follows-

Stock is included at the lower of cost or net realisable value.
Debtors
Trade and other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due after any trade discount
offered. Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid after taking into account of any trade
discounts offered.
Cash at bank and Sn hand
Cash at bank and cash in hand includes cash and short term hiBhly liquid investments with a short
maturity of three month5 or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or slmilar
account.
Flnanclal Instruments
The charity only has financial liabilities of a kind that qualify a5 basic financial instrument5. Ba51C
financial instruments are initially recognised at transaction value and subsequently measured at
their settlement value.
Creditors and pro¥lslons
Creditor5 and provisions are recognised where the charity has a present obliEation resulting from a
past event that will probably result in a transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to
settle the obligation can be measured or estim3ted reliably. Creditors and provisions are normally
recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade discounts due.
