The last finandal year tumeil out to be ch*lerrfJing. but it also saw significant progress. sin￿ the greater part ol our
ino)me comes from subscriw-ons. the numbw of mwnbers we have is dearly m05l important. Calculating that number in
the middle ol the renewals season is difficult, bul as at 1 Marth 2024 renewals totaM8d 1.942- signifieAnUy ahead of th8
equNdenl date in 2023. ￿en ty stood al 1,728.
The financial statements are sxesented on pagès 7 10 13. The income and expenrtit￿e account 5ht)ws that lotsl income
fdl 4%. from £139,483 last year to £132.171 ti) 2023. As eveT. the vast majorty ofour income ¢om¢s from subscripb"cffis.
vknich fell marginally, to £120,076 in 2023 fiorn £120,720 ￿ 2022.
Expenditure increased ￿ightty from £149,889 10 £150.818 this year. This meanl that. overall. we made a net Irading. h)ss

Tho not 85se15 OftheAsS￿iation decreased by £18.310, from £107.357 at 31 December 2022 to £89.047 at the end of
2023. From this, £1.991 rs held restiicted use funds, leawry £87,0￿ available lor general purpose use.
As shown on note 8, the li8led investment h8ld by BALH is induded in the balarKe sheet at its market vduatlon of £9,631.

RESERVES POLICY

in eX￿$S of réquirements. Al the same lirne, the trustees hav¢ a ggneral pob'cy to maintain reserves at a level ￿lch
safeguards the organis*t(n against the general difficaJltie5 01 operating without suffiuent lunds. The Current balance of the

1 A¢¢OUNTING POLICIES
Basis of accounting
The financial statements have been prepared under the histori￿1 cost convention. except for investments
whlch are slated at market valuation, and in 3txord¥nce wth the Finan￿al Reporting Standard applicable in tho
UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 1021. thè Statemenl of Recommended Practic&- Aecounting and Reportlng
by Charities ISORP ussued in OGlobgr 2019) and the Charities Act 2011.
The Trusle8s have assessed whether the u8e of the going concem basis is appropriate and have consideied
possible evènts or wndibons that mlght cast $ignfficant doubt on the a￿[ty ol Iha Charity lo ¢ontinue as a going
Goncem. The Trustees have made thls assessment for a period of at least on6 year from the date of app￿Val
of the fin8n¢ial stalemenls. In particular the Trustees have considered the Charl￿9 fr*re¢asls and projections
and have tsken account of preSSUTes on donation and investment incoma. AftÈr making enquiries the Trustees
havè concluded that ther¢ is a reasonable 8xpectation that the Charity has adequate resources to continue in
operational existen¢9 for the foreseeabl8 fijturè. The Charity th¢refore continues to adopt the going cLJncem
basis in Dret)arino its financial stalaments.
The financial statements ara in st8rling, which is functlonal currency of the chaTity. Monetary amounts In
these financial statements are rounded to the nearest pound.
Fund Accounting
Unrestricted fund3 are avalable for USÈ at the discretBJn of the Trustees in lh8 furtherance of the goneral
objectives of the Charity.
AM income and èxpenditure is shown in the Stslement of Financial Activities.
