The Management Committee present their financial statements for the 12 months period ended 31[st ] March 2023.

Objectives
The objectives of the Association continue to be:

To promote the exercise of tenants’ and residents’ rights and the maintenance and improvement of their housing condition, amenities, and environment.

To promote facilities for recreation and amenities and to encourage a community spirit.

For the furtherance of these objectives to represent the interests of the membership in dealing with the Local Authority and other bodies.

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE REPORT
STATEMENT OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Management Committee are required to prepare financial statements which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the association and of the income and expenditure of the association for those 12 months period. In preparing these financial statements, the management committee are required to:

Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently.
-
Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.

State whether applicable standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and
-
Prepare the financial statement on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the association will continue.
The Committees are responsible for keeping records which disclose at any time the financial position of the project. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the association and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT
Upon the request of the Association, we have examined the income and expenditure summary for the period ended 31[st ] March 2023. The extent of our work was limited to the amount of information provided by the association in relation to the 12 months period.
STATUS
The Association is not incorporated but is governed by its constitution.
ACCOUNTING POLICIES
The accounts are prepared under the Historical Cost Convention, which means that actual costs are used, and no adjustment is made for changes in the value of money.
In my opinion, the financial activities show a true view of the state of affairs of the Association for the period ended 31[st ] March 2023 and of the transactions for the period reviewed.

Dear Sceaux Gardens Resident,
As 2023 draws to a close, the Tenants & Residents Association (T&RA) wishes to convey every best wish to all who live on our estate for a happy and prosperous New Year and a well-deserved period of rest and festivities over Christmas, however your household marks this event.
When I was writing this letter, I re-read the one from last year to see how much has changed in the 12 months since. Sadly 2023 has largely been another year of frustration for residents. The rehousing of Marie Curie residents is still on-going (now in its 3[rd] year) and the recent postponement of the redevelopment project following the demolition of Racine and Florian has left us in limbo once again.
On a brighter note, we saw the return of the Seaside Trip which managed to sell out three coaches. It was a pity that the day will mostly be remembered for the poor weather. We also hosted the Summer Fayre in Mistral Community Garden once more. Thanks to the small but dedicated band of residents who support and organise these events for the enjoyment of all.
SGTRA continues to work tirelessly to improve the environment of the estate. This year we installed new litter bins, erected dog owner signage, overhauled The Elephant Park and put up the mural on the Lakanal garages. All these things go towards making our estate a more pleasant place to live.
Once the contractors leave and the last resident vacates Marie Curie, Voltaire and Colbert will largely be cut off from the rest of the estate. Maintaining social cohesion and a sense of community during this time will be paramount for the T&RA.
Early in the New Year we will begin formulating a plan for the short-term use of the now vacant building sites. If you want to have a say in this then please come to our next meeting which will be on Tuesday 16 January.
As always residents are encouraged to get involved with any of our community projects. Details of these are on the reverse of this letter, or please contact us via the T&RA Facebook page.
Attendance at our meetings has dipped recently and we need as many of you as possible to connect with us and to volunteer to help out. The association is open to all so please do come along on the third Tuesday of each month.
In addition to South London Gallery and Theatre Peckham we welcomed a new neighbour this year in the form of the Step Out Mentoring team, based at Lakanal undercroft. We are sorry that Rachael Harlow will soon be leaving her post at SLG. Rachael has worked with us for 12 years and has been a great friend and supporter of the T&RA, she will be missed.
We look forward to welcoming you to a meeting or event in the coming year and wish you and your household all the best for 2024.
