CHAIRMAN OF TRUSTEES REPORT
I am pleased to report another good year for AVA. Our Trust Deed was signed in 1982, which I make 43 years ago, but our need to exist and provide services is as important now as it was then. The number of clients for daycare and lunch clubs is stable and our income from general and funeral donations as well as bequests is beginning to increase again.
We needed to use some of our reserves this past year but far less than we did in the past because of Covid. We think that this coming year will be cost neutral in terms of income and expenditure. Looming on the horizon will be the need to replace the minibus. Our current vehicle is showing signs of wear and tear, but aren’t we all. I have been in AVA long enough to see replacements of two minibuses and I know when word is out, then the community rises to the occasion.
I particularly want to thank all the volunteers who make AVA possible. Without them we would not exist. Whether it is in the kitchen, hall or minibus, I want to thank you all for making AVA a success.
There are some particular people that I want to thank. Alison, our cook, has been providing popular tasty meals for quite a few years now and may you continue to do so for a long time.
Where would we be without Mandy our organiser. Mandy is the heart of AVA, dependable, reliable and calm in a crisis. She will go the extra mile to help clients in need. Thank you Mandy for all that you do.
There is a backroom person that I want to thank and that is Pam Sullivan who was the secretary for the trustees of AVA. Pam has now retired and the trustees are holding a little do for her after our AGM. Jan has offered to be our new secretary at present.
I need to thank Andrew who has been our treasurer since the death of Brian Bemment. He will continue as trustee but we have a new treasurer in Lynda Storey. Lynda you are most welcome.
I also would like to mention that we have two new trustees that you probably know and they are Judy Campion and Theresa Lavery. You are also both most welcome.
We are on course and settled to continue to provide care and help to our clients and long may we do so.
