The Board of Governors of The Dilcham Park School Charity Association present their annual directors, report and th8
audited financial stalèm8nls for the year ended 31 August 2024 and confirm they have also been prepared to meet the
requirements for a directors, report and accounts for Companies Act purposes.
The financi81 slalemenls comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 20￿, the Memorandum and Articles of
Association, and A￿oUntIng and Reporting by Charities.. Slalement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities
preparing their account$ in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
IFRS1021 leffective 1 January 20191.
The director8 of the charitable company ara ils Trustees (Governors) for the purpose of charity law. The Memorandum
and Articles of Association and this annual report refer lo these indwiduals as the Governors of the School.

education for children aged from 'rising three, to 16 yeaT$.
As a charitable trust, Dilcham Park School seeks lo benefit the public through the pur8Uit of ils slalgd aims. We seek to
provide a structured and supportive educational environment that develops our pupils, capabilities and compelonces.
Through our academic curriculum, programme ol pastoral care, and wde range of 8POrting and other activities, we
promote the academic, moral, and physical deveSopmenl of our pupils, building thèir 8elf-confid8ncè and providing them
with the skills and desire lo go out into the world and improve it.

As a relatively small school we are proud ol the high levels ol personalised pasloral care we have in place lor each pupil.
We nurture and d8velop our pupils in a sale yet stimulating environment. Through our pastoral support system, we aSm to
build each child's sell-confidence and can provide the guidance necessary to support pupils through any Ille challengos
they might experience. Alongside the broad curriculum delivered by our team of highly molivaled, talented and Inspiring

pursuits. The School's commitment lo academic excellence, pastoral care, and a diverse array ol extra-curricular ollerings
has continued lo allracl new pupils,18adlng to an incrèase in enrolment desiile the challenges posed by the ongoing cost

The School celebrated a very good sel of GCSE results In August 2024., 410/0 of all results were graded 9-7 IA. Al and
970/0 of results were pass grades 9-4 IA'.Cl. Headmaster Graham Spawtorth commented. These are very pleasing results.,
the prodLJcI ol a lol of hard work from pupils and teachers alike... among many strong individual performances particular
congratulations go to Finlay who achieved 9 grado 9$ and Tea who achleved 8 grade 9s placing thom amoNJ some of the
highest aehieving sludents in the country."
The Autumn Term started well with a record number ol pupils on roll. We Invited all parents up to school lo meet their
child's Class Teacher (Juniors) and Form Tutor Iseniorsl in th8 first working week ol the term.
We enjoyed a lull lixlure list of footbal and netball matches and some great performances by our puplls in the Bulser Hill
cross country run.
The 2023124 academlc year has been a remarkable season lor the Creative & Perfomiing Arts at Dilcham Park School.
Pupils won 4 x 1 sl in class art prizes in the ISA Regional Arl Exhilj'lion in October. These 4 pieces of art were then entered
in the ISA National Art Exhibition in NoVem￿r. We won 2 x 1 sl in class awards which is a great achievement.
Thirty-six Year 8 (Form 21 pupils performed a shortened version ol a Midsummer Night's Dream in the Shakespeare for
Schools Festival In November. This was a brilliant and joyous performance.
In October Year 6 enjoyed a Ihree-day resldential trip lo Weymouth in Dorset and Years 7 & 8 enjoyed a three day
residential trip lo Calshol Activity Genlre. In December, the Modern & Forwgn Languages department OTganised a
successful French Exchange Trip to Bordeaux.
We were grateful lo Reverend Will Hughe3 who led a whole School Harvest Festival Service in September and am Advent
Service in November, and on the 14th ol November we welcomed back past staff lo a 'Tea Party,. All former Heads
allended this event including our Founder Head, Paddy Holmes, Kathryn Morton and Andrew Rowley.
The Autumn Term finished wth our traditional whole school Carol Service at Sl John's.

During the Spring Temi. 70 enthusiastic Junior pupils from Years 4. 5, and 6 joined th8 Young Voices mass singing event
at London's 02 Stadium. This memorable experience proved formative, generating excitement and pride among the pupils
and their families.
February brought the Battle ol the Bands, wher8 eight Senior bands showcased their lalenl belore an animated Crowd. The
high standard of performances culminated in Year 11's Blue Lotus taking the top spot.
March saw a flurry of events, starting with the highly praised school produ¢lion ol Grease. Wrth 85 pupils participating as
actors. musicians, and cr9w, the production exceeded expectations. Families and friends filled the auditorium. with one
attendee marvelling, 'Is this really a school production?. The allenlion lo detail, from diner-lhemed welcome drinks to a lully
crafted car prop. left audiences in awe and garn9red an outpouring of positive feedback.
The momentum continued with the Senior Music Contert, a successful showcase for Ditcham's talented mLJsicians,
fcAlowed by the school's participation in the Pelersfi8ld Music FestNial, where bolh Junior and Senior pupils pertormed.
This truly exemplifies Dilcham Park's dedication lo nurturing creativity and talent, with every evenl reinlordng the school's
growng reputation in the arts.
The School also enjoyed a full programme ol sport in 2023124. In January, w8 organised a short h￿keY lour lo
Loughborough University which Involved having a coaching session wlh the Loughborough University 1 st Xl ladies team
coach and a game against Oakham School. We ar8 also delighted lo report Ihal the DPS Tennls Academy has been going
from strength lo slrenglh, and there are ambitious plans to grow and develop.
During lh8 Summer Term, th8 school hosted a 3-day whol8 school Cr8alive and Pèrforming Arts F8stlval which was
dedgned lo provide opporlunilies lor pupils to devolop crealiv8 and performance skills such as song writing, music making,
film making. An exhibition and staged pertormances on the final day provided an opporlunlly lor pupils to exhibit their work
and perform. We were d81ighled to welcom8 the lead singer and song writer, Mark Knopfler, from the mega band, Dir8
Stralis lo the school during this festival. Hè spent time with pupils und8rtaklng the rock school and song writing course.
The Academic Year finished on Frlday 5 July with an excellènt Founder's Day & Prize Givlng. Paul Clayton, actor and writer
was our gLJ8St ol honour. He talked enthusiastically about the Importancè ol the performlng and Greallve arts. We were
delighted to welcome our Founder, Paddy Holmes to this event.

1. Education.. During the year, the School has eduGaled 426 children. Th8 academic standard achieved was very high
see the Review of Activities and Achievements above. All leavers gained entrance to the Senior School or Sixth
Form College ol ih8ir choice. Pupils al Dilcham Park School are well prepared lor the future which is a staled aim
so they are able lo make significant and worthwhile contributions in later life to the common good, as many of their
predecessors have already don8.

During the year, all children al the School were educated through the generogly of Iheir
families and other benefactors al no cost lo the public. The School recewes no grant from the exchequer.
3. Bursaries.. This yoar the value of means tested bursari8s lotalled £166,712 and 2.5Q/o of our gross lee5, which
provided assistance lo 21 01 our pupils, ol which 2 pupils ￿nefItted from a lull remission of 18es. Duriw the
acad8mic year, we continued lo support a lolal of 2 pupils from the Ukralne who hav8 relocated lo the area owng
lo the ongoing conflict in their country. These pupils have beèn awarded full remission on all fees which lolalled
£25,000.
4. In addition. the School awarded scholarships lo 65 pupils, based on Iheir educational meril and
potential, lotalling £95,523 and representing 1.P/o of our gross fe8s. The yogress ol pupils receiving scholarships
is rèviewed annually to ensure their progress is In line wilh their abilities. No scholarships were withdrawn in the
year as a result ol such revlews.
iLauL. WÈ stre Dilcham Park School as a part of a wider community, and we are delighted lo assist the

community whenever we can. Our School has links wilh local education inslilulions, We regularly provide sludenl
placements lor tralnee teachers from the Universllles of Chichester and Winchester and Bohunl Sixth Form
College, and we accommodate local students who want lo do work 'shadowing' in an educational environment.
Durlng Ihls financial year, we havo worked with a number ol local ￿hOOlS who have used our school sile lo camp
as part ol their Duke ol Edinburgh Award expeditions. A local Ho¢key club has had use ol our sports hall for Ihelr
winter training sessions. In addition, we held regular webinars lor parents ol our pupils and others in the ¢ommunily
throughout the year on dfferenl aspects of school education, such as literacy and reading skills and intern81 safety.
6. &￿10Q￿her '. The school ov6rsees a number ol activities that aim to raise lund5 lor the schools, chosen charilies.
Each year, our pupils se16¢1 a number ol Qharilies that they wlsh lo support, and in the year 8nded 31 August 2024,
the school raised a total of £4,834 for a total of eleven dlfferenl charities (Final Straw Foundation, Refugee
Nètwork, Make a Wish Foundation, Save the Children, Cancer Research UK, Roald Dahl's Marvè15ous Charity,
Hisliocyiosis UK, Wessex Childrens Hospice, The Genie's Wish, Dementia Friendly and Over the Walll.
Thè annual Harvest Festival SeNices general8d a signiffcant donation ol food lor the Pelersfi8ld Food Bank and
distributed lo families in the P91er51ield area over the leslive season.

The School's Sgnior Le8dershlp Team seek lo promote and support the
School's programme ol Outreach. whenever possible by developing strong links with local Infant, Primary and
Prep Schools In particular. In July 2024 we invited local primary and prep schools to visit our Creative & Pgrlorming
Arts Festival.

Future Plans
The prime objective of th8 Govgrnors is lo provide, for each individual PLJpiI, a high standard of all-round educalion,
including excellent examination results, strong pastoral care and a broad extra-curricular experience. The Governors intend
to conlinue with Ih8ir current strategies to mak8 surpluses and genèrate cash inflows in lulure periods that will ensure the
continuing viability of the charity and enable the School to fund lulure improvements.
Commerciatly. and in response lo the increasing financial pressures from rising lees and operational costs, the school is
actively working lo diversify its income streams in order to reduce the financial burden on our families. To Ihis end, we have
established a subsidiary trading company, Dilcham Park Enterprises Limited, which will help generate additional revenue
through various inilialives. These include the development ol salellil8 nurseries, the introduction of an 'in-house' uniform
shop, and the expansion ol our successlLJI tennis academy. By creating these supplementary income sources, we aim lo
ensure the school's continued financial sustainability while ke8ping188 increases to a minimum for our parents.
The School's 10-year bullding and lacilllies development plan Includes a number of projects that will, once complete,
benefit the majority ol pupils and slafl with improvements locussed on Ihr8e primary areas in the School,. Physical
Education lacililies, School DininglAssembly areas and the Creative Arts, the laller lo include a purpose-built performance
auditorium.
Environmental issues are a priorlty for the School community and we always consider the energy efficiency and longer-lemi
environmental impact ol 8ach new facility as plans are drawn up lor their devdopment. Our pupils and stall are investod in
prolecling the planet's future and in summer 012024 the work ol our Eco Commillee18d to Dilcham Park School being
awarded a Green Flag wlh Distinction. Governors ar9 mindful of th8 need lo incorporate sustalnability into th8 School's
d8velopm8nt plans whènèver approprla16 and pracllcable.
In 2018119 the School undertook a whole sit8 utilisalion revièw to help inform and develop a 10-y8ar maslerplan ol facility
improvements and building devèlopments. Durlng 2019120 as a result ol this review, the School Leadership Team and
School Governors refined the agreed programme IocLJsin
on three dislincl arèas of the School, expected lo appèal lo a
wide cross section of thè School community including pupi
s, stall and par8nls.
Followlng the conslrucllon ol the extension lo the Marlin Pryce Sports Hall, whlch was completed in January 2022, the
School is now locussed on improving ils provision lor the creative arts. During 2020-21, the School had worked in
conjunction with a local architectural practice and a range ol specialist consullanls lo linalise the design of the School's
flagship Centre lor the Creative Arts complex, a projoct that will bring logelher the art, drama and music deparlmenls. Th8
planning application was made in the Autumn of 2021 to construct a ngw Centre lor the Cr8alive Arts buildino and
permission was granted in October 2022. It Is hoped that work on Ihls project wll comm8nGe before the plannlng
permisslon ends in October 2025.
Flnanclal Re$ults
The linanclal slatemenls show a net surplus for Ihe year on our School's actlviiles of £559,734. The prlndpal source of
income is fees, accounting lor 99.4Q/o ol the School's income. The nel cash increase was £1,836,834. The School dDes not
receive any additional income from endowments. Our Governor5 are continuing their strategy of deploying all nel incoming
resources to investing in the educaliDnal purposes and labrfc ol Ihe School, and as an edLJcalional Charity, the parents ol
our pupils have the assurance that all the income of the School must be applied lor educallonal purposes.

Reserves and Investment Powers
The School's main financial instruments comprise bank balances and debtor and creditor balances. The main purpose ol
these instruments is to finance the School's operations. The nature of the financial instruments used by the School 15 such
that their markel value does not Ilucluale as a result ol changes in mark91 prices. Debtors are managed in respect ol credit
and cash flow risk by the r8gular monitoring of outstanding amounts. Creditors liquidity risk is Tnanaged by ensuring
sullicienl funds are available lo meet amounts due.
Reserves will be accumulated when possible for the development of th8 School, whilst retaSning a minimum cash holding in
general funds ol sufficient size lo ensure the uninterrupted running ol the School and meet the objectives ol ihe charity as
sel out in the Memorandum and Articles ol Association. Currently ihe School retains th8 sum of £500,000 in general funds
to cover its immediate operational expenses., this amount is regularfy assessed against forecast income and exp8nses lor
ils suitability. In the event of insuffiuent money being readily available lo cover current expenditure, the School wll ulilise
funds from the CBILS loan held from 21 Sèptember 2020; as al 31 Augusl 2024, the School had one loan Gommitment in
favour of Natwesl bank, related to the CBILS loan. Generally, the School aims lo manage its lunds prudently to pemil
lurther development.
The School intends to continuo building reserves lo provide funds for ils 10-year development plan, as outlined in 'Fulure
Plans" on page 5. Tho cash flows required lo generate lh8 funds needed lo finance these Inveslmen15, whilst
simullaneously maintaining tho day-lo-day operation ol the School, ar8 assessed by the School and the Governing Body.
Investments are governed by Ihe Memorandum of Association whlch permit5 the funds 10 be invested In or upon su¢h
inveslmenls, securities or property as may be thought lil by the Governors. Al 31 August 2024, invèslmenls were held in
interesl bearing bank accounts with Nalwesl, Lloyds, and CAF banks. There is no exposure lo stock market or olher risks.

The broad strategy ol the School is lo provide an excellonl all-round 8ducation lor ils pupils and to provlde our pupils with
Ihe skills. qualilicalions and the sell-confidence to pursue a successlul and m8aningful life. This Is achieved by idenlilying
and developing the abilities that 8ach child possesses using a holistic approach lo education. In addition, the charily
endeavours lo Maint￿rn a co-operallve relationship with local Schools and the wider local community as lar as 11 is able
within Ils linancial means and rural location high on the South Downs.
Our School welcom8s pupils from all backgrounds. To admll a prosp8cliv8 pupil we need to be salislièd that our School will
be able lo educate and develop a prospective pupil to iho best of hislher pol8nilal and in Ilne with thè gen8ral standards
achleved by his or her peers.

tho pace of learning and benefit from the education we provide. An indlvidual's ggnder. elhnicily, race, religion or disability
do not form part ol our assessment processes. Economic status Is only taken Into consideration when a parent applies lor a
means-lesled bursary. We are an equal opportunity organisalion and are commilled lo a working environment that is free

will make reasonable adjuslmenls, wihin the constralnts ol the existing School buildlngs, lo maintain accessibility lo all

accessibility for disabled pupils, slafl and visitors is a key consideration.
Our School is committed 10 safeguarding and promoting the welfare ol our puplls and expecls all staff and volunteers lo

Parents are provlded wlh regular informalion about their children's social and academic progress through parenl evenings,
end of term and end ol year reports. We mainlain regular contacl with parents throughout the year through informal
contacts. electronic weekly newsletters and termly printed colour new51ellers. Pupils are supported by Form Tutors, House
Captains, Heads ol Year IPaslorall and a system ol staff and pupil mentors, which includes Mental Health Support.

It is important lo us that access lo the education we off er is not reslricled lo those who can alford our fees. Our pupils, we
believe, benefit from learning within a diverse community. Social interaction, conversation and shared experiences help our
pupils develop an understanding of the perspectives ol other people thal will be vrtal in their adult lives.

Our Governors view our bursary policy as an important laclor in our efforts lo wden access lo the educallon we offer and
the lacililies we enjoy. We believe our bursary awards provide children from families who would otherwise not be able lo
afford the fees ￿th Ihe opportunity 10 increase their attainment and signilicanily improve their life chances. Our bursary
awards are open to all who meet our general entry requirements and are made sol8ly on the basis ol parenld means, or lo
relieve hardship where a pupil's edLJcation and lulure prospects would otherwise be al risk. In assessing means, we work
with a Ihird paty, Bursary Administration Ltd, and lake several factors into consideration, including family income,
investments and savings and family circumstances such as dependanl relative5 and the number ol sitJings.
However, our School has no endowments and in funding our awards we are mlndful lo ensure a balance between fe8-
paying parents, many ol whom make considerable personal sacrifices lo fund their child's education, and those beneliling
from ihe awards. Th8 bursary awards granted range from 10°/. 10 100Q/o remission ol lees, in som8 cases including
transportallon 10 our sile. We acfv6rtise the availability of these awards on our website and in our prospectus.

School Fees Plan is available via a Ihird-party provider to help those who wish to fund educational costs through regular
contributions.

As parl of our emphasls on attractlng and relainlng high calibr8 stall, we offer a dlseounl scheme lor stafl members who
choose to educate Ihoir children at our School.
The purpose of our scholarship awards is Its recognlse high academi¢ potentlal, or th6 ability lo excel In Muslc, Sport, Art or
Drama. Scholarshlps are award8d with a fixed remission of lees between 5°/0 and 30°/o, available lor both Juniors and
Senlors. We adverlise the availability of scholarship awards on our website, in our prospectus and In a printed brochure

Curriculum which promotes personal development preparing them lor incroasing indèpendence and responsibility. All pupils
are offered relevant help and assistance in their learning wherever and whenever a need is Identified. In some
circumstances, with the agreement ol parenls, teachers and Learning Support stall, a pupil may receive one to one support
from a specialist lileracylnumeracy teacher. Ditcham Park can provide onsite specialist support during the school day,
delivered by the Head of Learning Support and her team lo lil around a pupil's tr'metalAe and activity commitments where
possible. This support requires a lee pald for by parents.
Structure, Govornance and Management
The Governors, who are also the charity trustees, adminlster Ihe Charity and are responsible lor Ihe overall management
and control ol The Dilcham Park School Charity Assoclalion. The Council ol Governors mee15 not less than four limes each
year and at such other tirnes as the Chairman shall appoint. The work ol implementing most of their poliaes is carried out
by the three committees covering Finance and Personnel, Building5 and Education, and there are a150 a further three sub
commrtlees attended by al least one governor and these cover Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Matl(eting.
Each meet at least three limes each year and work under the chaiTmanshlp ol a Governor appointed al the AGM each year.
The Council tnakes strategic decision5 and ensures that the structure and management arrangements lor governance ol
the School are well defined to provlde eff ective oversight and guidance.
The BursarlCOO is responsble for co-ordinating the work of the Governors and Ihelr Committees, preparation of papers
and management accounts and Ihe review of matters arising.
All trustees give of their time freely and no remuneration was paid in the year. No Governor Dr person connected with a
Governor rec￿Ved any benefit from a means lesled bursary or scholarship awarded to our pupils.
The Governors appoint the Headmaster and the BursarlCOO & Clerk to the Governors to manage the day-lo-day
operations of the charity.

Our Governors determine the general policy of our School. The day lo day running of the School is delegated lo the
Headmaster, support8d by Senior Stall. The Headmaster undertakes the k8y leadership role overseeing educational,

administration ol boih soclions ol our School is undèrtaken wilhin the Policies and procedures approved by our Governors

Th8 Headmaster oversees the recruilmenl ol all educational staff and leaching support slafl, whilst under del8galed
authority, the BursarlCOO oversees the recruitment of administration, estate and catering staff. The Headmaster, Head ol
Seniors and Head ol Juniors attend our Council of Governors, m88lings, accompanied by the BursarlCOO who also acts as
C18rk to th8 Governors.

The Governors examine the major risks that the School laces each Ilnancial year when preparing and updallng the
strategic plan. Th8 Charity has doveloped systems to monitor and control these risks to miligato any impact ihal they may
have on the School in the future. Governors have prescribed a risk assessment methodology, and the Sonior Lead8rship
Team undertakes an annual review. The Senior Leadership Team reported their findinos lo the Governors during the year-

Retirement beneflts lor the employèes ol Tho Dllcham Park School are separated ￿tween leachlng and
support staff pension schemes.
Teachers Penjlon Scheme
Until April 2021 the School participated solely in the Teachors, Penslon Scheme I'the TPS I for Ils leaching
stall. Frorn 19t April 2021, due to the rislng costs ol the employer's Teachers Pension contributions IERSI the
school has introduced an allernalive Aviva APTIS pension schEme whlch is a dolined contrbbullon schcmo.
From 191 April 2021 the School has contributed a maxlmum o116.480/& Irilo each teachEr's chosen 5chcme.
Teachers electing lo remain in the TPS do so by sell-lunding the additional cost ol thè higher Employers
Contribution o123.68°/v prescrlbed by the TPS. From 181 October 2021 the School has moved lo a "Phased
Withdrawal Status Sehool" with the TPS. The pension charge lor the year includgs conlrlbutlon8 payable to
the TPS and Avlva Aplis of £378.317 12023.. £343,755) and al the year-end £28,336 12023 £39,588) wa5
accrued In respect ol contribukn'ons lo this scheme.
The TPS Is an unlunded multi-employer defined beneflis penslon scheme governed by The Teachers,
Pensions Regulations 2010 las amended) and The Teachers, Pension Scheme Flegulations 2014 las
amended). Member5 contribute on a °pay as you go. basis wlh contributions from members and th8
employer being credited to the Exchequer. Retirement and other pension benelits are paid by publlc funds

The employer contribution rale Is set by the Secretary of Slate following schemo valuations undertaken by the
Government Actuary's Department. The most recent actuarial valuation of Ihe TPS was prepared at $1 March

IUKI Limited Chartered Surveyors (Regulated by RICSI on the I￿r value basis. The fr8ehold property was valued
at £5.500,000. ol which £1,925,000 was deemed lo b8 the land.
To the best of thè knowledge and béllef ol the Governors and supported by a further valualion carried out by
Savills IUK) Limited in October 2023, the valuation ol the freehold properly Carried out on 14 Augusl 2018 Is not
materially different to the value ol th8 freehold propgrty al the 31 ALAgust 2024 Ilaking into account the cost of
additions since the valuation was carried outl. The Governors believe that it Is appropriate to reflect this valuation
in the Ilnancial statements lor the year ended 31 August 2024.

The General Fund repres8nts the free funds ot the Charity which are noi designalod for any partlcular
purposes.
The Revduation Resetve is required by the Companies Act 2006 and repres8nts the amount by which the
frgehold property exGgeds ils hlslorlcal cost. Revaluations ol the freehold land and bulldlngs wll be carried
out with sufficient regularity lo ensure that the falr value Is reflected in the accounts.
The Bursaries and Scholarships Fund- The purpose of Ihls deslgnated fund is to provide support for parents
of children al the school who are able to demonstrate Ilnanoial hardship, in accordance with procedures and
cr(leria laid down by Governors, and In years when Ihe provlsion within the revenue budget for Bursary
Support has been lully commilled. The School and Governlng body as8e88 the balance ol this tund
annually, with the largel level set al 2•/0 of grosg fees.
Development FurKI Tlis fund relates to pol&nlial prolecls that are being evalual8d by the School.
Following the conslru¢lion ol lh8 extension lo the Martin Pryce Sports Hall in 2021, the School Ss now
reviewing ils options durlng a time of global economlc Instablllly.
Capltal Equipment R8placement Fund The purpose ol this fund is ensurè adequacy of moni8s available to
replace large items ol capital equipment d8gm8d necessary for the eflicionl operallon ol the School, its
buildings and grounds.
