BRITAIN BURMA BUDDHIST TRUST TRUSTEES' REPORT

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2025

The trustees present their report, receipts and payments accounts for the year ended 31 August 2025.

Principal Activities

The principal activity of the charity throughout the year was to promote the study and practice of the Buddhist faith for the public benefit through the teaching of the Dhamma, conduct of religious ceremonies, the holding of regular meditation sessions (Mindfulness).

Financial Review

Income in 2025 £28,760 was slightly lower than 2024 £30,031, however the net surplus of £9,552 incurred during the year.

Reserve Policy

The Charity, BBBT, prepares the reserve policy to provide assurance that the finances of the charity are actively managed, and its activities are suitable.

Sponsorship of the Sangha

We sponsor the Sangha from the monasteries in Myanmar and other countries who can preach Buddhism and meditation practice. We provide the accommodation and the food for them.

Regular Activities

Regular activities included teaching of the Dhamma, every evening Mindfulness meditation, monthly retreat, bank holiday, Christmas and New Year retreat, ordination of novices, celebrations of birthdays and anniversaries, officiating at births and weddings, giving of the last rites and officiating at funerals.

Celebrations

We are only able to celebrate a few of our Special Buddhist Days to comply with Brent's Conservation Area Directive; with a very small congregation and staggered attendance to minimize capacity. The internationally renowned Vesak Day, Buddha Day, and Kathina Day etc are held at the vihara with curtailment.

Achievements

Meditation sessions held by the monks from the Vihara on every evening and long retreat on public holidays are mostly welcome and attractive to those Buddhist devotees. There are Buddhist preaching and Dhamma teaching regularly. BBBT website (www.londonmahasi.com) & Facebook (London Mahasi Meditation Center) was established during the year.

Trustees

Trustees are working on a voluntary basis and none of the trustees receive any remuneration or benefit from the charity during the year.
