**INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF ISLAH UL MUSLIMEEN MOSQUE & COMMUNITY CENTRE**

## **YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2021**

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2021.

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011Act), and that an independent examination is needed.

## It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts (under section 145(1)(a) of the 2011 Act);

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5) of the 2011Act); and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMENT

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in:an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view'. I

## NDEPENDENT EXAMINER'5 STATEMENT

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: (1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the trustees have not met the requirements to ensure that:

- Proper accounting records are kept (in accordance with sections 130 and 131of the Act); and

- Accounts are prepared which agree with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act; or

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2021**

## **THE TRUSTEES**

The trustees who served the charity during the period were as follows: Cllr Tony Aslam, Chaudhary Hameed, Khawaja Shafqat.

## **PUBLIC BENEFIT STATEMENT AND OBJECTIVES & ACTIVITIES**

In setting out the objectives and planning the activities, the trustees have given careful consideration to complying with the duty in Section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission. All our projects and services have continued to grow as well as some new, benefiting great many more of the community.

In keeping with objectives, we continue to develop our facilities for worship, and we provide full facilities for all daily prayer sessions as well as prayers for special occasions in accordance with Islamic faith.

We work towards alleviating poverty, isolation, culture, and language barriers in order to improve quality of life. We are planning to provide Social cultural, sports and recreational activities.

We work with leading Islamic Charities by collecting the obligatory religious donations (Fitra, Zakat and Sadaqa), which were then distributed, to the poor and needy in various parts of the world.

## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE**

It goes without saying last that year has been difficult due to covid-19. Alhamdullillah we have managed it to the best of out ability under the circumstances.

In the last financial year we competed renovation of 8 Strode Road by providing a ladies prayer room and rebuilding toilets and washing facilities at the cost of £35,154.23. This has also provided class rooms for children. This involved a total demolition of the old toilet area and rebuilt it in a new layout. This now includes a baby changing facility, shower room and three toilets. Prior to this renovation, the toilet and Wudu space were not of a suitable standard, and they are now purpose built, hygienic, and finished to a good standard. New kitchen has been fitted complete with new appliances. Overall the entire building has benefited from a new boiler, complete electrical wiring and general redecoration and plastering.

Three years ago we set up a Muslim funeral service, as well as a monthly funeral plan. We worked with the Borough Council of Wellingborough and succeeded in change in burial policy to facilitate Shrouded burial according to Islamic requirements. Since then, the service has been functioning well and is now well established.

During Covid-19 lock down unfortunately the Masjid had to be closed but we continued limited services, such as on-line classes for children. From the beginning of lock down in March 2020 we have been delivering essential food supplies to vulnerable members of community and providing shopping delivery service.

Islah Ul Muslimeen is now registered with HM Revenue and customs (HMRC) to get tax back on Gift Aid on your donations.

Our prime focus continues to be promoting knowledge and providing much needed services, within its scope of operation, to all the communities. Our Open-door policy has produced many enquiries and has resulted in numerous Mosque visits by local Schools and other groups. Various fundraising and cultural events took place during the year, in line with inter-faith and community cohesion work.
