CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
2024 has been yet another busyyearl Here's a quick scamper through some of the highlights.
We had a great Christmas, enjoyed by everyone and are looking forward to this year's.
There have been many changes made to Ihe building. We had to remove the shed we had built
as there was an issue with the land- a long siory which mosi ofyou know about.
We add8d punch bags and gloves for boxercise- skipping ropes. There are c18sses for Chair
Yoga, Move It or Lose It,. Pilates, Panicularly ge8red for people with Parkinsons plus 8 whole
host of other activities.
Deliveries show no sign of getting less. with more coming in to sit down for lunch.
Through a Deportment of Trénsport initiative we were loaned a fflinibus to use to demonstrate
that there is 8 need for one. We originally only had it until the end of July 2023 but this was
extended through DCC who gave us £4.000 towards running costs followed by a further
£15.000. That arrangement ¢ame to an end at the beginning of this year as we realised it would
be too expensive to run without the grants and we had veryfew donations to help with this.
Amanda and Lindy are doing a fantastic job in the office keeping it all running smoothly.
Amanda has a lol of clients for help with form filling which we are havingto fund.
The Rest Centre has now formally closed 8nd 811 deeds for the building have been handed over
to U8- together with their balance of £69,947.75. 1?)
We are still receiving small amounts of moneyfrom clubs including KIB Rugby club l Bigbury
Coffee Morning l KIB Masonic Lodge plus others.
We had Ilood damage in the small kitchen which has been completely refufbistted thanks to
Howdens who gave us a new kitchen: Steve George who titted it, working round us. Nigel, our
plumber; and my son Paul who kindly did the tiling and p8inting- a huge thank you to them all.
AS you are aware. we are getting more and more requests to use our rooms for various
purposes. I have had a building firm in to see if we can get planning permission to extend the
building as we need to move forward and you have all had sight otthe preliminary
documenlation. I will keep you updated.
