Section D
Achievements and performance
The Exeter Disability Transport SeTvir£ has been established now for
forty-three yeats during which time rt has become an essential service for
many disabled and l or dderty people in the local communty providing
Speciall￿1, irKliwdual or groups, transport without which many would
remain houseboLbnd. or at the very least experienung extreme difficulty in
ac￿sIng hosprtal appoirrtments, shopping trips or social events.
A simple phone call is all rt tskes. We have been able to respond to 990/0
of all requests for transport.
Summary ofthe maln
achlevements of the charlty
durlng the year
This, much. valued relationship between our volunteers and our clients is
one of the Ihings which makes us determined to keep this service going.
Due to the reduwl Hosytal Transport Service in our area we are
increasingly being requested to provide transport for clients with special
needs to attend hospital appointments, often requiring very eady andlor
late joumeys bui our volunteer drivers will ahvays accommodate these
requests.
Vle are still able to maintsin a 365 day's service. This year has seen an
increase in demand for our service confinning that we are still very much
required in our local communty. The year has been difficult maintsining
and recruiting volunteer drivers. However, we have been able to
transport over 5500 passengers safely and efficiently.
Vde finished the year with a surplus.
We sbll appreciate the dedication and hard work of our volunteers. We
receive no grant- aid from any public or statutory body. We do, however,
make appeals to other grant-giving trusts etc.
These. together. with a fthv bequests and gtfts from grateful users and
relatives of our dients make up the bulk of our income.
