Section D
Achievements and performance
The Exeter Disability Transport servi￿ has been established now for
forty years during which time it has become an essential service for many
disabled and l or elderly people in the local community providing
specialised, individual or groups, transport without which many would
remain housebound, or at the very least experiencing extreme difficulty in
accessing hospital appointments, shopping trips or social events.
Summary of the maln
achievements of the charity
during thè year
A simple phone call is all it takes. We have b8èn able to respond to 99°h
of all requests for transport.
This, much, valued relationship between our volunteers and our clients is
one of the things which makes us determlned to keep this Servi￿ going.
Due to the reduced Hospital Transport Service in our area we are
increasingly being requested to provide transport for clients with special
needs to attend hospital appointments, often requiring very early andlor
late youmeys but our volunteer drivers will always accommodate these
requests.
We maintain a 365 days service. Règretfully due to Covid19 our vehicles
have only made 1600 joumeys this year safely and efficiently,
transporting approximately 3400 passengers.
We finished the year wrth a small deficit due to the increase of our vehicle
costs and our income being restrided due to Covid 19.
We still appreciate the dedication and hard work of our volunteers. We
receive no grant- aid from any public or statutory body. We do, however,
make appeals to other grant-giving trusts etc.
These, together, with a few bequests and gifts from grateful users and
relatives of our dients make up the bulk of our income.
