## **G.S.L Report June 2025**

Now in my 12[th] year as Group Scout Leader, and 28 years scout service and we Have had another excellent year and we will be full in all sections from September.

- We have opened our squirrels drey in January 25, with 14 Squirrels, aged 4 to 6 years there are only 3 dreys currently in Wolsey district, so we are very pleased to have this new section and they have been very enthusiastic about their scouting and all the lovely activities that they have been undertaking, it was great investing them all and being part of the leaders group to set it up. A big thank you to all our wonderful leaders who have been equally enthusiastic in setting up the drey and learning new skills themselves. Giles Team Lead, supported by Claire, Kerry, Carrie, Isabel and young leaders, Daisy, Chloe and Livvy.

Beavers have currently 21 members with a waiting list ready for September 2025 to take# them to 24we are only able to take in beavers who are 5 ¾ or 6 to take them up through the sections. Beavers Led by Emma & Caroline supported by Jon, Becka and Kerry and YL’s Finley and Esmae.

Cubs have 28 members. Age of Cubs 8 to 10.5 years

Cubs Sam, Cub Leader, Supported by Jenny, Helen, Maisie and Jen supported by a parent helper list. And thanks to, Zack and Jevan, Rebecca and Lana who are the young leaders supporting the group.

Maisie is stepping away from Cubs at the end of term, we are therefore looking for at least 1 or 2 adult team members to help support the thriving cub pack so if any of you would be interested, or know of anyone please speak to me over the weekend. If you can commit every other week if not each week, this will support with cover of existing leaders work

- Scouts currently have 32 members, with a few on the waiting list, Age 10.5 years to 14 years,

Scouts Dave Section Team Leader, assisted by Keith, Aidan, Ben, Dan Ryan, Keith and Denzil

Gipping Valley Explorers who are attached to our Group have about 12 members, so if you know anyone who is aged 14 to 17 that might like to join, please speak to James Richards or Stacey Herbert our explorer leaders supported by Jim, Jason and Ryan

- A big thank you to Roly our quartermaster who has been busy sorting out all our equipment and is getting it in some kind of order for all sections to be able to access easily and know what we have, and what we need !

- A big thank you to Don assistant group lead volunteer for all his ongoing support and dealing with the maintenance of the HQ and minibus and ensuring all leader training records are up to date.

The Groups success is very much due to the Enthusiasm, dedication and commitment of each of the leaders, assistant section leaders, young leaders and parent helpers, who volunteer their time each week to provide an exciting programme of activities. All of us

work, most of us full time, but make that commitment each week to support the young people in Bramford and the wider community to make it the fantastic Scout Group it is. Each leader brings to each of the sections a good balance of their own skills, and knowledge to benefit the Group. Likewise you are all DBS checked now so if you have any skills you would like to offer, interesting places of work to visit or any programme ideas please share with the leaders to add them to the programmes.

Thank you to all of our leaders so much to all of you for your commitment and Enthusiasm for volunteering your time each week we really appreciate everything you do.

The Success of the Group is also down to the young people in each section who continue to be enthusiastic about their scouting, having fun undertaking new activities and learning new life long skills and friendships.

Young leaders help support the Squirrels, Beavers and Cub Sections and full training can be provided to them, and helps with Duke of Edinburgh Awards as well as looking good on job applications and CV’s in the future and then continue to be an adult leader. Please let me know if you know anyone that would be interested.

Thanks also to all of the parents for your continued support to the Group.

Thank you to Grant for his continued support in running the Group Trustee Board and to all the other members in organizing and supporting fundraising activities. Thank you to Julie for the hours of work she does with the accounts and raising cheques, sorting out cash and also monitoring subs payments and thanks to Evie for her help with minutes of meetings etc. We are continuing to put in the changes to the Trustee Board, that will help to spread the work and support the scout group

Thank you to Chris and Zack once again, who puts up with me typing away of an evening on the telephone or attending various meetings to support the scout group.

It is really important that Subs are paid on time and it would help if these could be paid online to save time for Julie and I chasing payments please. If you could please ensure that your members details are up to date and make any changes as required.

We also keen to get our gift aid contributions up to date, so will be sending out a request for you to sign up for this.

We also have a Bramford Scout Group Facebook page which is a closed group and is useful for me to send out reminders, and also for any of you to put photos of activities that have been undertaken to keep as memories, if you are not a member please send me a request and I will add you to the group. Please ensure that photos of any other member are not shared outside of the facebook closed group on social media.

We also have a Group Website, which we aim to keep up to date as much as possible with programmes and would love to add photos etc the website is http://www.bramfordscouts.co.uk and we are grateful to Joy Day for managing this.
