## **The structure of the Bramford Group Trustees Board**

The Group Trustee Board is responsible for the governance of the charity. Although the Group Trustee Board is responsible for the charity, it is accountable to the Group Scout Council.

- a. Appointed by the Scout Council

   - These Trustees are appointed by the Scout Council at their AGM following a rigorous and transparent selection process agreed by the members of the Trustee Board. This includes the Chair and Treasurer roles.

- b. Co-opted by the Trustee Board

   - These Trustees are appointed by the Trustee Board. Co-opting offers the Trustee Board a way of broadening its skills mix or to introduce potential new Trustees midyear, as well as providing a method of filling vacancies that may occur between AGMs.

- c. The selection processes leading to appointment of Trustees must include a rigorous and transparent selection process and may include a nominations process or an election process or other locally appropriate procedures. It may include selection of persons with specific skills from outside the Scouts.

- d. The Trustee vacancies should be advertised widely, including to all members of the Scout Council aged 18 or over, so that it is clear that it is an open process.

- e. Persons recommended for appointment to the Trustee Board may include members of the Scout Council and may also include people from outside the Scout Council (including people from outside the Scouts) provided that there is no conflict of interest.

The board is made up of 4 subcommittees, Group Administration, Finance, Fundraising and Heath & Safety, which meet as and when required but at least all together once a term.

The activities of the board revolve around supporting the Group Leadership team in ensuring that all Scouting activities are provided in a safe manner and with adequate financial support. Fundraising events are planned according to the financial requirements of each of the Sections and usually comprise of one or two big events per year e.g. Firework Display and Grand Auction

## **Summary of Group Scout Leaders report 2024**

Beavers have currently 24 members with a waiting list ready for September 2024 depending on leaders we are only able to take in beavers who are 5 ¾ or 6 to take them up through the sections.

Beavers are led by Emma, Caroline and Natalie supported by Jon, Becka and Kerry and YL’s Finlay and Esmae.

Cubs have 28 members.

Cubs are led by Sam, supported by Chris, Jenny, Maisie and Angie plus a parent helper list. And thanks to Amelie, Lilly and Alice, Zack and Jevan who are the young leaders with the Section.

Scouts currently have 32 members, with a few on the waiting list.

Scouts are led by Dave, assisted by Keith, Ryan, Aden, Ben, Dan, Keith and Denzil.

Gipping Valley Explorers who are attached to our Group have about 12 members. to Roly

Explorers are led by Roly with Jim, Stacey, James, Jason, Ryan and Connor.

The Groups success is very much due to the enthusiasm, dedication and commitment of each of the leaders, assistant section leaders, young leaders and parent helpers, who volunteer their time each week to provide an exciting programme of activities. All of us work, most of us full-time, but make that commitment each week to support the young people in Bramford and the wider community to make it the fantastic Scout Group it is. Each leader brings to each of the sections a good balance of their own skills and knowledge to benefit the Group.

Bramford Scout Auction on Saturday 13 July 2024, Collecting and drop offs start Monday 8[th] July and we will be requesting help and support from our members and parents and leaders. Many hands make light work, and we do have fun.

The success of the Group is also down to the young people in each section who continue to be enthusiastic about their scouting, having fun undertaking new activities and learning new lifelong skills and friendships.

Young leaders help support the Beaver and Cub Sections and full training can be provided for them. Their volunteering helps them with Duke of Edinburgh Awards as well as looking good on job applications and CVs in the future. Hopefully, they will continue to be adult leaders.

Thanks also to all the parents for your continued support for the Group.

Thank you to Grant for his continued support in running the Group Trustee Board and to all the other members in organizing and supporting fundraising activities. Thank you to Julie for the hours of work she does with the accounts and raising cheques, sorting out cash and also monitoring subs payments and thanks to Evie for her help with minutes of meetings etc. We are looking forward to putting in the changes to the Trustee Board, that will help to spread the work and support the scout group

We are keen to get our gift aid contributions up to date, so we will be sending out a request for you to sign up for this.

We also have a Bramford Scout Group Facebook page which is a closed group and is useful for me to send out reminders, and for any of you to put photos of activities on.

In addition, we have a Group Website, which we aim to keep up to date as much as possible with programmes and would love to add photos etc. The website is http://www.bramfordscouts.co.uk and we are grateful to Joy Day for managing this.
