Warren Recr¢alion Ground so smoothly through Ihe Irportin￿ year.
"For context. the Wajyen R￿r¢￿tiOn Ground is leased to East Preston Cricket Club for sixty years from Ibl M8y 2001. Within
the lease, the recreation ground may b¢ used'for the nomwl activities of a crickei Club and (in the Club House only) for a
pl&yschool and occasional meeting house for ILKal groups alld private parties"
-All the infornialion below refers to the period of April 2024 to March 2025.
"At the beginning of the year, the council was very 8rateful to Bast Preston in Bloom for 118 work in creating a serenity s￿en
in the south-eastern corner of th¢ recre4tion groLind and for its work on planting up the ¢xtended security mound between the
car-park and the greenspace itself. Thrcc new plastiL bcnchey w¢re bought for the south-etLgicrn cnrner. one donated by E&sl
Preston in Bloom, onc a Inemorial bench donatcd io the village, and the third providcd by the council. Subsequently, the COiLncil
has ir¢¢ived no reports of 8nti-social behaviour in rhe bouthryeastcrn corner. The shrubs chosen tor th¢ mound should providc
olour ycar-round. Thank you Blu£itncrs.
hc council provided thr¢¢ replacement planters for Ihc northcrn side of the car-park. Th¢sc have becn well-receivcd although
Mainl¢D4￿C¢ of ihe plants has bcen a littll problcmalic but ttddiess¢d witli the council'8 contractors. In light of Ihiy, the wunLil
h¥1+ also initiated an inLreased frequency ol-site inspections of the Watt¢n Rec. Onc uf the pldntcrs h4s be¢n dedicated to the
late Ro¥e Argle8, an enthusiaglic member of East Preston in Bloom from the very start.
'Various tree works were ¢arri¢d out on the ¢ustern buunddry. following a request fr()m a hvuschold on that sidc. The initial
works. w¢re rtol thoughi ¥utTicient by the household and fullowing & further me¢ting on ¥ile, unforiunat¢ly without ¢ricki¥t club
pr¢bentAlion, I'urther Ir¢¢ works were agreed and were Larried ()Iil atler the end of the 2024 erickel s¢asoii. The club h85
cxpressed il8 coneern about thcse further works leaving propLrtics in that direction more expo%ed Jnd likely to reLeive ¥ri¢ket
balls in their gardens until extended nctting could be agreed and fundcd. The hDus¢hold in question kindly otYcr¢d a
financial contribution to netting repairs and exi¢n8ion.
'The council started a proj¢ct lo look at options for rcplacing dnd cxpanding the outdoor gym equipment offering gt thc Warren
Rc¢. Currently, although the council had s¢1 #sid¢ funding, this project has bccn pu( on hold.
'Th¢ council ha5 been working wtth East P￿S1On & Kingston HorticulturBI Society to improve th¢ Health & Safety paperwork
submilled for the sociely's Summer Show. AS alwitys, th¢ 2024 was a su¢¢ess but the S￿ietY would always welcome

'Starting on iir Octo￿r 2024, thc council ¢ntered into ¥n agreetnertt with Paul Wicks of Paul Wicks Garden Services for him to
art as El volunteer ¢nsuring the areas around mcmoridl trees are kept clear and tidy. This includes a nurnber of tr¢es on Thvo
Arre5, adjacent to the Warren Recreation Ground. Thank you Paul.
"Following a lead from Angmering Parish Coiincil, it wa$ agreed to inst411 a bicycle repair station at the enlrancc lo thc Warrcn
Recreatioii Ground. Thc council wa5 able to lakc adv#nl8ge of a substantial 8pecldl off¢r discount, bul th¢ slaiions had not b¢cn
installed by th¢ end of this re￿)rtIng period.
'Th¢ council ugreed to have the car-park markinss rcpainlcd and bud8el¢d for this to tsk¢ place during the 2025-26 financial
year.
"At the beginning of 2025, one of th¢ council's contractors addressed all ibsues raised by thc 2024 ROSPA report on the
children's playground.
-Also in January. another council contractor damag￿ the railings adjacent to the height restriction barrier. The ¢ontsxctor duly
agreed to cover the ¢osi$ of repair or replacemcnt.
'The council's AmenitI¢5 Committee stdrted to work with th¢ neighbours along Ihc we8tern boundary gn iinprovements to ihe
trees and planting along that side. On th¢ north¢rn boundary, the Council ghared the costs of some ￿plaCement fenLing.

"In sport, Ea.%t Preston (Ladies) SiiKilball Tcam reclaitned its position al the top of th¢ Chanctonbury Leagu¢ and won the
Coasial League for the third eons¢culiYc seawn. both ¢ompetitions within the Sussex Sioolball League. Not gu¢h a go()d scason
for thc cricket club. the isl Xl tinishing 8, in its division of the Sussex Cricket L¢a¥u¢, whilsi the XI finished 3td in its
division. Our thanks lo the ui¢k¢l Club for its m&in*nance of the Warren Recreution Ground during the 2024 season. The
council took u one-year break from running free tennis-coa¢hing sessions in conjunction with the Angmering-on-Se8 tawn
Tennis Club.
"I would like to thank David Macdonald of the Martlet Partnership for keeping the charily's finance5 in order. I would also like
to thank all East Preston Parish Council staff and councillors for their etTorts to keep the WRG a pleasant place so it can be
