Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document

The charity was established for "the purposes of physical and mental recreation, and social, moral and intellectual development through the medium of reading and recreation rooms, a library, lectures, classes, recreation and entertainments, or otherwise as may be found expedient for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of Thurlestone in the county of Devon and its immediate vicinity.

The Trustees are pleased to be able to report on a good year of operation for the Parish Hall in 2025. The strategic objective of being the focal point for recreation within the Parish has been achieved through a diverse range of activities.

Significant user groups included Art, Badminton, Bridge, Crafty Mondays, Fitness Yoga with Suzi - including Senior Fitness and High Intensity Training, French Conversation, Healthy Movement with Saffron, Line Dancing, Mead Management Co Ltd, Pickleball, Salcombe Rowers Fitness Club, Sea beyond Pilates with Sharron, Table Tennis, Walking Football, and Yoga with Sarah. The Hall was also used by the local Village Voice magazine, the Parish Council, and for Police and Crime Commissioner and General Elections, together with hirings by private individuals for Business Meetings.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

The Hall is still proving to be an excellent venue for a wide range of fund raising events in aid of various charities and also to supplement the income of the Hall in order to build up a healthy balance for the future. Charities that have benefitted include the Rotary Club of Kingsbridge, KATS, Prickles in a Pickle Hedgehog Charity, the Friends of Thurlestone School, the English Bridge Union, and Thurlestone Church. Events in support of the Hall included an Open Gardens event, evenings with the Salcombe Jazz Trio with Corinne Lynn, a Murder Mystery evening, films showing the "Land of the 5 Beaches" and "Village People", a Disco, a Family Fun Evening and regular Pub Nights and Beer and Boules. South Hams Arts Forum used the Hall for a successful Art Exhibiton in August, the Kingsbridge Beavers enjoyed an overnight experience in the Hall. Wellington School in Taunton used the Hall for various activities during their week long stay in May. Significant grants over the past few years have enabled the Hall to invest in a new heating system, up-dated lighting, improvements to the Car Park, and improvements to the aesthetics of the Hall.

The Maintenance Committee monitor the condition of the Hall to identify and oversee any work necessary to maintain and further improve the facilities offered by the Hall. The Solar Panels installed in 2011 continue to give a good return on our investment. Thurlestone Parish Hall now has its own Facebook page. The trustees are satisfied that the activities undertaken are for Public Benefit, and that they have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 / 12 / 2025 .
Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation basis of report of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
