Chairman’s Report: AGM - Wednesday 18th June 2025 @ 5:30pm.
The Trust is composed of: Mr Mark Andrews (Chair) Mr Simon Liley, Miss Natalie Webb, Mr Mike Hendry (Treasurer), Mrs Lucy McNamara and Mrs Becky Denny.
The Trust exists ‘to remove barriers and to promote opportunities’ for the young people who are members of The Lavinia Norfolk Centre, at The Angmering School. The Trust raises money to promote and enable accessibility for students to engage in any opportunities offered by the school, whether it be the provision of funds to enable the purchase of equipment or access to an activity.
Trust News
In February of this year we were saddened to hear of the passing of Eric Holmes, our ex-chairman and Trust member for many years and a good friend to the LNC. The Trust have planted a beautiful White Beam Tree in the grounds of the school in his memory.
Our fundraising.
This is our first year of having a dedicated fundraising team and what a year they have had! Our thanks go to Mrs Lucy McNamara, Mr Jon McNamara, Mrs Jade Greenough, Mr and Mrs Roberts, Mrs Kristen Caplin and Mrs Lindsey Turner, and Miss Natalie Webb too who has overseen all our fundraising efforts.
Our major fundraising target for the year was to raise £50.000 for a pool pod to enable our student to access the hydrotherapy pool independently. This transformative piece of hi-tec equipment is a submersible platform lift that slowly lowers a person with limited mobility, under their own control into the water. Well, the good news is that we have raised the money and the pod has arrived, and was officially opened on April 22nd. Our major contributors were able to attend and these included:
-
Jack Clavey Trust
-
Saywell International
-
Arcade Knitters
-
Sporting Bears
-
The Body Shop
-
David Hunt Trust
-
Mary Bayford - Riding for the Disabled
The Trust also donated to the total. Just as important were all the contributions from parents, families and friends of the LNC. We could not do without all our wonderful supporters who came along to our Summer and Christmas Fayres, our bingo/quiz/race nights and who have contributed in so many different ways, raffles and stalls in the local village, cakes sales in school, and the donations sent in over the year. The list goes on! Thank you!
Other fundraising events over the year included.
-
The Summer Fayre which raised £1,600.
-
The Christmas Fayre which raised £1,500 including £200 for the marvellous Christmas tree!
-
A donation from The William Older Charitable fund for £2.100
-
£300 from our friends at The Rustington Sports and Social Club following a Dartsathon - 10 hours of continuous darts played by the RSSC Darts team.
-
Charlotte Webb, sister-in-law to Natalie Webb and Steven Turner also ran in the Brighton Marathon raising well over £1000. Thanks to everyone who sponsored her.
-
Angmering Village had kindly made us their charity of the year so we have attended many of their events over the year, with a cheque presented to Miss Webb in May of £3.116.
-
We have also had a number of donations from our friends, over the year, including recently the sum of £250 towards Art equipment from Arundel Arts Trust.
Our collective fundraising efforts have meant we have been able to purchase:
-
The pool pod
-
A 3D digital printer, which will enable the VI team, under Mr McNamara, to create 3D representations of learning resources for our V.I students.
-
A new storage container for all our equipment (£2,000)
-
Funding for the Parallel Youth Games at the K2 at Crawley Stadium. (£600)
-
Funding for Stoke Mandeville 4 day residential trip for 24 students and 14 staff (£5K).
These expenditures are in addition to our regular commitments which include:
-
The joint hiring of the accessible minibus, with mainschool + PE Dept.
-
Annual Health and Safety inspections of all our equipment.
-
Our after school swimming and social group activities for the students.
For next year our big project looks likely to be a replacement accessible minibus at a cost of around £20K. All ideas on how to raise this sum will be gratefully received!
The 100 Club, the Trust’s private lottery draw, continues to provide a very useful income and has been going for over a year now. For a outlay of £10 per month from members, the Trust makes a steady profit and members get the chance of getting drawn out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize money each month.
