|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|Besides being a venue where many<br>village residents can congregate to take<br>part in activities or just to catch up with<br>a cup of tea, the hall trustees continue<br>to provide extra activities. Main<br>achievements this year include the<br>continued provision of community<br>lunches by the hall committee and<br>streamlining hall security via fire<br>assessments and installation of new<br>compliance procedure. Despite over<br>£6000 being spent on the fabric of the<br>hall the hall has increased its savings<br>by several thousand pounds over the<br>year.<br>The lunches have been provided free of<br>charge for members of the Capel<br>community enabling them to meet over<br>a freshly prepared meal has been<br>attended by over 45 people who seem<br>enjoy coming together for<br>companionship and a chat. Meals are<br>prepared, cooked and served by the<br>hall trustees with much appreciated<br>help from the Community Warden.<br>Working with the local Parish Council<br>and the Folkestone and Hythe Lions we<br>ran Christmas events including lighting<br>of the outside tree, carol singing and a<br>Father Christmas grotto for the children<br>of the village.  There are plans to<br>expand on that this year.|





The Farmers Market although small continues to attract people from across East Kent as well as locals and hosts the Parish Council surgery once a month together with ad hoc sessions with the Community Roots van and even a County Councillor on several occasions.

We also<br>have a WhatsApp group. Speakers are<br>welcome at the meetings but have no<br>voting rights. The lettings secretary is<br>also in regular attendance. Urgent<br>decisions have been made via email<br>and then ratified at committee<br>meetings. Confidential matters are<br>discussed by Trustees only. ## ON THE ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2025 

## **RESPECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRUSTEES AND EXAMINER** 

As Trustees of the charity, the Committee are responsible for the preparation of the accounts.  The charity’s Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. 

It is my responsibility to: 

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act, 

- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and 

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S STATEMENT** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by The Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.  It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the Trustees concerning any such matters.  The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. 

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S STATEMENT** 

In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect,: 

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or 

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or 

- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
