**Objects:** THE OBJECT OF THE SOCIETY IS TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY THE STUDY OF THE HISTORY OF HITCHIN AND DISTRICT.

**Activities:** i) to inform the public of the history of Hitchin and the surrounding district;ii) to undertake research into the origins and development of buildings, people, organisations, crafts, trades, and other aspects of historical interest;iii) to publish the results of such research;iv) to inform members and others of matters likely to impact the historic character of the town.
