eslablished undei Memorandum of Association and Ihe ¢ompany is governed under ils Articles of AsSO¢lation which
were last revised in 2001. In the evenl of tho company belng wound up Meinber5 are required lo contribute and
amount not exceeding £1. There are eighteen members ol Association as al the end of March 2024.

on trust8e respon5ibilily immed181ely. The aim is lo maintain an appropriate mix of skills and backgrounds on the
8oard. All Trustees need to be ablo lo domonsliale an active Christian faith and an abilily and commilmenl to uphold
the Christian ethos of the charity.

Christian FartTrily Concern runs Birdhursl Nursery, a fifty-5ix place Registered Day Nursery for children bolween the
ages of 0 and 5 y8ars old. Our focus is nol only on the edur.alion of the children but helping lo develop Ihelr
inLlividu31 person3lilies through a creative and dynamic curiiculuin. Investinenl in our groun(Ss, and the provision of a
For8sI School, Inean our children start their educational journey with 8 well-rounded axperionce. In line with our
charity's eth0.￿, we suppori, care and invest in our families and even though we have beell classed by Ofsled as a
'GOOD' provider, we seek lo exceed this standard. Throughout 2023124 w6 1)rovid8d childc8r8 to 177 families. W8
opened a small "For¥sl Schuol ￿thIn our Nursery gdrden and refurbished our Sen50ry Rootn lo pi"ovide a 531e and
quieter environfflent for the Chi￿re￿ to explore.
Couns8lllng
Our trained counsellors s88 cli8nts with a wld8 range of n8eds Cll8ntS 8r8 mel lace lo fac8 in our counselling room
81 Wallis House. We aTe able lo offer individual and couples counselling and sessions continue for as long as 1118
client and counsellor fe81 il necess8ry.
You do not have to b8 a Christian or practicing any faith lo access our sarvice. We want our service lo be ac￿sSible
to a11 including those who cannot afford the full lee, lor instance those on low incornes oi" dependent on benefits. so
for this we hav8 a coun5811ing bursary available.

FUTURE PLANS
Over the next three years the Charity plans to develop the work with our resldenis by providimg follow on support
after they leave our accomfflodation. This is so Ihat the n8xI slep he¢omes a positive experience and not 8 slep
backward5. We also hopo In open a larger group meoling sp2C8 to prowde greater opportunities for our group work
programme on slle. This will also enable us io open up Ihese programmes lo non residents who are in similar
P0511ion5 to our residents. And lo former resldenls who n8&d to vlsit for continuing support. In the Nursery, the
Charity plans to sliellglhen our In hous8 training and lo illclude Forest School skills for all Ihe staff so they can make
use ol our Forest School 8rea throughout the week. With increasing numbers of SEND children attending w8 will
also be expanding the numbers ol staff Specifically Iiained in Ihis area and providing all staff with the skills requlred
lo help and Support these children.

The Board Is aware of The Charity Commission's guidance In relation lo Public Benefit. The Board belleves this
r8POrt demonsliates how we l)av@ delivered Public 8enefit across our activities throughout Ihp year.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The finand31 year &nd8d 3151 March 2024 produced a def1cII of £33,204 compared with a deficit 01165,474 in the
prevlous year,. an Improvement of £32,270.
Income frorn lees and rents was £1.045,259 an Increase of £169.657 on the previous year. Expenditure on
¢l)arilable activities was also up by £127,092 at £1,133,057.
Income froni donalions and legaaes fell by £14,205 10 £47,370. We are grateful lo the m3ny indiiqduals and local
churche5 who have contributed so generously thls year.
Reserves Polloy
We have conducted a rèview of our designated reservgs policy lo bring our reserves moré closely aligned lo Ih
neads of Ihe charity. Con5equeiilly, w8 have con501idaled our designaled reserves into three funds,. on8 to provSde
lor Inlerruplions to norrnal ca8h flow, one lor future d8veloprnenls and prolecls and on8 lo cover Ihe nel thok value
of our fixed a55els.
At the year end, Ihe charity had lotal fund5 01 £975.962 01 which £6,250 were restricted and £969.712 were
unreslric18d.
Our free reseNes, d8fin8d as lolal unreslri¢led r8saTves less designaled reserves, stand at £63.279 on 3151 March
2024. With m05t ol our Int()me being recurring by nalure. the Board consider that a prudonl lev81 of frce reserves
W￿ld be equival8nt to beiween one and Iwo monlhs operating expandilur8, currently £84,000 to £168,000.
Investment poli¢y
The Board have agr8ed thal for as long as inveslmenls lolal less than £200,000, M&G Charibond is an appropriate
collective inveslThelll scheme. Al 31&1 March 2a24 the Charity's holding was valued al £134.64012023 £133,5551.
Fundraising
We do not use any outside organisalion to help with our fundraising. We pub115h a newsl6ller thr88 tlm8s a year
whith Ss sent lo our members and supporters and In Ihose publi￿110n$, wo may ask for financial support. No
compl8ints were received in resp8cl of our approach lo fundraising in the year10 3151 March 2024.
