Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees

The general management and control of the Trust is vested in the Trustees who are appointed from the following people:

The Existing Trustees

Providing always that there are no more than four trustees at any time and no fewer than two.

Risk Management

Appropriate financial controls have been in place for many years to minimise the risk of misappropriation of Charity assets.

Organisation structure

The charity’s trustees and officers shall meet twice a year and obtain written reports on the status of each project.

The Trustees are responsible for the strategic direction and policy of the charity.

Objectives and Activities

The object of the Trust is to promote the Christian religion and to express it in care for the community through social action in the United Kingdom and abroad.

The Trust pursues this object by instituting various projects, some of which have now become self-administered and are therefore no longer projects of the Trust. A SubCommittee is appointed for each project and is responsible for the financing and administration of their project.

Achievement and Performance

The Charity continues to administer Sharon International Ministries

Ongoing project

Sharon International Ministries – The Sub-Committee consists of Tom Holyer, Tom Johnson and Lorraine Johnson.

The project is run in India by a group of medical doctors who provide free healthcare to the poor in their area. The Holyers became involved in Beaconsfield in 2006 when they first met Doctor Sam Karra, who is the inspiration behind the school. This was adopted as a project on 25[th] September 2008.

It has since been extended to build a school in Gunter region of Andhra Pradesh. There are now 928 pupils at the school, 46 pupils took the school leaving Certificate, 94% passed in the First Class category and 6% in the Second Class Category.

Financial Review

Review of the Charity’s financial position.

2

Copies of the accounts for the year ended 31[st] March 2024 are attached, at which date the Trust had “free assets” of £401. Restricted Funds totalled £132,731 compared with £7,568 in the previous year.

Principal financial management policies.

The Charity exists to fund the financial requirements of the various projects. With regards to Reserves Policy it is the responsibility of the Sub-Committees of each project to maintain adequate reserves. It is considered that such reserves should not be less than six months normal running costs.

Investment policy.

During the year the Indian Government stopped foreign currency crediting charities in India. The Trustees have re-applied and hope to get permission to change this shortly. In the meantime funds are being retained until this permission is granted.

Plans for future periods

The Trustees propose to continue to raise funds for the project in India.

Statement of Trustees’ Responsibility in respect of the financial statements

Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial period which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Trust and of the financial activities of the Trust for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to:

Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; and Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Trust will continue in business.

The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Trust and which enables them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Trust and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities

Trustees and Committee Members

The Trustees who served during the year and up to the date of this report are set out at the beginning of the Trustees’ Report.

In accordance with charity law we certify that:

So far as we are aware, there is no relevant information of which the Trust’s Independent Examiner is unaware; and

BEACONSFIELD CHURCHES CHRISTIAN TRUST INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES

I report on the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31st March 2024, which are set out on pages 1 to 3.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011Act); and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;

to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and

to state whether particular matters have come to my attention

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair view" and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come my attention:

to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
