**years Pod entertainers have made the**
**hospital journey a more pleasant one for**

**Pod has 3 objectives: to make smiles**
**and laughter, to distract children and**
**young people from pain and worry and**
**to improve children’s and young**
**people’s attitudes to hospitalization,**
**helping them to cope better with the**
**possibility of re-admittance and further**
**treatment.**
**Pod is governed by a board of voluntary**
**trustees. All administrative costs are**
**financed by an entirely separate charity**
**– The Pod League of Friends (Reg:**
**296119). Entertainer’s fees are Pod’s**
**only cost which means every penny**
**donated is spent on cheering up**

**children, young people and their**
**families to forget their worries, relax and**
**share in a positive activity in which they**
**have fun together. Pod entertainers**
**provide regular monthly visits at**
**hospitals and hospices throughout the**
**UK, providing shows on wards, in**
**playrooms and clinics. They visit**
**children individually at the bedside and**
**children who are in isolation so that**
**everyone is included and has something**
**to smile about.**
**In 2019 Pod provided 2816 sessions in**
**127 hospitals and hospices but in March**
**2020, Covid meant that all visits were**
**suspended. Since then, visits have very**
**gradually resumed at some of the**
**hospitals and hospices previously**
**visited. By the end of 2023 there are**
**1475 sessions at 63 hospitals and**
