Group Chair Report 2024/25
Afternoon, just a quick introduction, my name is Paul, and I have lived in Weston Turville
the last 11 years, I have two children that have come up through Beavers, Cubs and are
now both in Scouts, lovingthe experiences alongthe way.
Duringthe summer GLV Kevin asked if I would volunteer as the Chair of the Trustee
board, to support the otherTrustees and the leadership team. Having come through
Scouting myself, being a volunteerforscouting, stjohn Ambulance and the RNLI over
the last 44 years I was keen to offer mysupport.
Having onlyjoined in September it is hard to comment on the last 12 months, butthose
ofyour that came to support the opening ofthe new buildingwiLI be aware of the time,
effort and money put in to getthis fine buildingfor ouryoung people.
Without having a building to use during the rebuild, this added additional pressures to
the Section Leaders, not only maintaining the activities, but also doing it in various
different buildings around the local community. My thanks to them for that, they have
enough to do normally, and doing this awayfrom'Home' increased that.
Moving forward the priorities for the Trustees is to ensure that the final works are
completed on the building, and for the building to become a Hub for Scouting activities
forthe future. To that end we are keen ensure thatwe have a sustainable Scout Group,
both in developing the skills, experience and qualifications of the leadership team,
including the many Young Leaders coming through. (Many of the activities require
additional Qualifications with added cost, both time and money). Along with reducing
the administrative burden on the leadership team where possible.
We will keep you in touch as this progresses and any support/volunteeringfrom Parents
would be greatly appreciated.
My thanks to all those involved in the different sections, as well as the Trustees.
