Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The Charity has raised £11,689.99 this year, which
has led to a net decrease in funds of £6,509.95.
As a result, the Charity has total assets of
£31,172.53.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The Charity’s reserves policy is to maintain
sufficient free reserves to enable it to meet its
financial obligations and commitments to the school
for at least a year.
Additionally, Charity income varies between years
with the biannual Big Bike Ride typically doubling
funds raised. Reserves at the end of a year may
reflect a planning-ahead to maintain funding levels
to the school in a non-Big Bike Ride year.
We can also agree to hold larger reserves when the
School has expressed an upcoming need and the
Charity membership has voted to approve support.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 As explained above, the Charity’s net assets
currently amount to £31,172.53.
Funding and fundraising forecasts show an
upcoming decrease to these reserves, following
another non-Big Bike Ride year and the final year of
a 3-year ICT refresh funding programme for the
School.

The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including

Para 1.47 The Charity’s principal source of funds are
volunteer-led fundraising events and activities. This
year, these have included May Day celebrations, a
‘Soup Lunch’, Quiz Night and end-of-term discos;
the sale of Christmas trees and other Christmas-
related events; and sale of second-hand

clothes/uniform. We also receive regular donations
to the ‘Sparkle Fund’ and organise a ‘100 Club’
lottery.
This year the Charity also benefitted significantly
from the ‘Islip Big Bike Ride’ held in May 2024,
which raised money for the Friends of Dr South’s
School and St Nicholas Church, Islip. For ease of
administration, all the funds raised by the Bike Ride
during the year under review (£21,280.37) were
paid to the Friends of Dr South’s School, which
then passed on to St Nicholas Church the latter’s
share of those funds (£11,412.60) under a joint
funding agreement.
