ort Year Endln

ril 2022
As Tre35urerl Trustee of Grave5end & Dartford Muslim Association IGDMAI and an important part of the
Executive Committee l am delighted to present Accounts 2021/2022 and an outlook for the forthcoming
financial year. The Financial Year for GDMA runs from 1st May to 301* April.
I can confirm that the highest quality and best practice quality management has been implemented to
carry out my role against the agreed decisions set by the Committee and expected from the community.
All Executtve Committee members abide by the rules set out in the GDMA constitution and Charities
Commission and of course what the community expects from us.
Income
Gift Aid
Around £7k was claimed in Gift Aid and Gift Aid Small donatlor)s scheme IGASDSI durin£ the course of this
year. This is something that I will be looking to Increase as this creates a healthy income for the
Association. Gift Aid enables the charity to take advantage of the government scheme to claim back tax or)
donations made by taxpayers. Donors must sign a gift aid form to enable the Association to claim back on
donations.
Dlrect Debit
The main source of income is generated from Weekly Jumma Collections IFriday Prayers) as well as
collection5 during the holy month of Ramadan. Eid Collections also form a vital part of yearly collections for
the Association. Monthly Direct Debits are now over a £lk per month, the committee will work hard to
increase these to at least £1500 per month over the coming period, monthly direct debits give the
Association better financial Stability allowing long term decisions to be made. Monthly Direct Debit
donations range from as little as £5 per month to £200 per month from each donor.
Ramadan Calendar
Local Businesses have been encouraged to support the mosque via monthly prayer timetable contribution
as well as contribution towards producing a fully professionally designed and printed A3 Ramadan
timetable. This initiative is raisir)g around £2k per year lor the Mosque.
There are now several Card machines installed in various locations in the premises, card donations are
increasing as young people tend to carry less cash. The aim is to have more card machines in the future to
make donations easier.
The appointed treasurer is responsible for the main collection and deposlt of furbds into the main accou nt
held with Lloyds Bank, Gravesend Branch, this includes f unds collected for other charitable deeds,
di5aster5, Fitrana, etc. The Fitrana money this financial year (£34861 was donated to registered charities,
Graham Layton Trust. Muslim Hands & Imrar) Khan Cancer Appeal.

Ex
enditure
The Association for the first time in its history had 2 Imams and hence this has increased costs of
generating incoMe1£24kl- General rise in energy costs has also impacted the expenses of the Association
and this will likely continue over the comir)g years as the premises are now used at record levels.
There were several upgrades/improvements over the course of this year, these included New carpet for
upstairs Hall I£IOkl New Imam Bathroom/Toilet1£6.4kl New Air conditioning for Main Hall1£6kl, new
sound sy5tem1£6.4kl and Electrical works including new Fuse Board l£1.2kl.
Maintenance
General maintenance & cleaning of the premises is maintained by trustees and volunteers Wlth cleaning
materials such as Bleach, Hand soap, Tissues, Toilei Rolls etc used donated by a local family and one of the
trustees. Volunteers are always needed to help with the mainter)ar)ce of the premises.
Accounts
These are open to anyone for viewing once the applicant has requested authorisation by writter) request
to the Secretary and this has been authorised by the Executive committee. There is a notice board in the
entrance of the premises which details main income/expenditure lor the cornmunity to view.
The minutes of rnonthly executive meetings are for the first time being displayed on the entrance notice
board including account balances, this gives trar)sparency on a monthly bas15 to the community about
income/expenses and gives added reassurance to the community. The Accounts are prepared by a local
independent accountant who charges professional fees of c£900.
The Association always requires donations to carry on its work to benefit the local community and create
harmony within the wider society hence I would encourage everyone to donate generously however much
they can to the house of ALLAH on a regular basi5 by setting up a direct debit Using one of the forms
in the entrance of the premises. I would also encourage donors to sign a Gift Aid form if they are a UK
taxpayer to enable the Association to claim back tax.
l om available any time to answer any questions which may arise.
Jazak ALLAH
