The Friends of Widford Church y/e 31 March 2025 Financial report
The accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025 attached to this report show a year when were able to put on two successful events and we received a very substantial legacy, which is very timely in view of the major works at the church known as TAP (Tower and Archive Project).
The two FoWC events were a very popular Burns Night supper with Scottish dancing and a professional caller and the well-attended annual ‘Come in from the cold’ in early February with a theme of ’Down at the pub’. At both events Kerry provided splendid fare which again covered all costs for Come in from the cold including new display boards which Helen can re-use.
We did not appeal for subs in 2024/25 and as always were grateful for those subs and donations we received regardless.
The main item in the accounts was already commented on at the 2024 AGM, being an astonishing legacy from Christopher Taylor-Young which we understand as intended to support a new home for the Archive. This is of course part of the aims of the TAP and FoWC has resolved since the end of 2024/25 to pay the majority of the legacy to the TAP as we believe Christopher would have wanted, along with a contribution from FoWC itself. Payment of £25,000 has now been made so the reserves are no longer the large number in the accounts but are back down to [some £8,000].
We thank all Friends for their support and especially Jo McGill who has stepped down from acting as independent reviewer of the accounts after many years and [lucky individual] who has kindly taken up this role.
