The charity was set up as a Trust in 1979 and is governed by a Trust Deed dated 27th July 1979.
The Trust was reglsiered as a charty on 12th September 1979. The charfty is managed by Its
trustees, asslsted by the admlnistrator, and the trustees meet regularty at least On￿ a year.
The trUSt￿S have the power under the Trust Deed to appoint further trust￿5 if at any time their
nUM￿r falls below four. A Ilst of the trustees and other officlals of the charity at date the accounts
were approv￿ is set out on page I which forms part of thfs rep)rt. There were no changes In
trustees in the year.

The dbaws obithes are to advan￿ educatlon In the art of music aTrJ Compos￿ of musical
works and to relieve rnuslcians and ￿mposerS who are in need, hardshlp or distress. The charity
does this by maklng grants and awards to organisations which undertake projerts wh￿h meet the
criteria set out bebw. In 2022 the Trustees broadened the scope of grants to Include the
promotvjn, [ErfOrman￿ and study of Sir Mlchael Mppetvs musio
The tnJSt￿, mindful of the Ilmited funds available, have dedded to focus on one area of musical
activty as their slngle prforfty. From 2023 the charivs activty will focus exclusivety on the funding
of Ferfomiances and recording of music by Slr Michael Tlppett, with the aim of generatlng greater
revenue for a wlder range of athvities In future years and so erKouraglng the muslc of the futu￿.
The trust&s continue to keep this, Ilke all of Its policles, under regular review.
Tre trust￿ consider applKations for both first-time initlatives as well as the development of
exlstlng projects.
The trustees refer to the Commis4on's guidan￿ on publk ￿ner[t when reviewing the
charty's alms, objertives and athityes, when planning future acuvities and when setting the
charlvs grant makirKJ p)ITaes.

Sir Mlchael fippett died on 8th January 1998. Under an agreement made ltheen the charlty,
the founderfs estste and his publishers, the charity recelves a share of the founderfs royalties
which will continue for the full copyrlght perlod. These rOya￿teS are shown as a legacy In the
Accounts and are Included In the accounts when ￿￿1ved. They rerelv&J In arrears and vary
from year to year.
The charity ￿￿fved donatlons totslling £15,000 in the year (2024 £40,000 foliowing an Appeal)
whlch, like the maiorty of the charity's expended income, Is applied to grants and awards made.
The trustee5, in determining the number aiKJ amount of grants, ￿maIn mlrKJful of the variobilty In
re￿Ipts from year to year and in partlcular royalty irK(Nne and donatlons. The trustees therefore
consider it prudent not to spend all of the recelpts so a5 to bulld funds whlch will allow for greater
generosity In future year5 and, potentialty a wider range of grants, i.e. musk educatlon AND
Tip￿ perfomiances.
