The financial statements have been wepared in aceordance with the a(xounbng poltues set out in nole 1 to
the financial statements and compty vAth the Charrty's Deed of Settlement dated 27 March 1979, the Charib'es

The Charity was constituted under a Deed of sethen￿t dated 27 March 1979.
The statutory power of appointing or 8ddrfaonal Trustees b5 vested in the present Trustees. The total
number of Trustees shall be no more than nine at any ts"rne. Where there is a requirement for new Trustees,
these would be identrfied by the remaining Trustees. New Trustees are apwinted under a Deed.
The CUTrenl Trustees are ￿sponSIble for the Induct￿ of any new Trustees. A new Trustee V￿Uld receive a
welcome pack which indudes copies of the prewous yeaV$ annual report and accounts, a brief history of the
Charity and a copy of the goveming document. The pad( wll also include a ￿pY of the Chartty Commission
guidarKe"Charity Trustee welcome pack. published on 30 April 2018 {updalèd 29 May 20181.
The TNslees have examsned the major strategic, business and operational risks which the Charity faces and
Confirm that systems have been estsblished lo ena￿e regular repjrts to be produced so that the necessary
steps can be taken to lessen these risks.
The Trustees have systems in place to identfy any confii¢ts of interest Ihat may occur. ￿en a conflict of
interest arises, the relevant Trustee or Trustees agree to wrthdraw from any discussion and decision.
Ofyectives and activities for the benefit of public
The Charity's objectives are lo hold the Trust funds and income thereof upon Trust to pay or apply the whole
thereof lo or towards or for the benefit of fvrtheran¢e of such charitable purposes. institutions or charitable
foundatson8 for the benefft of old aThJ aged Feople in England.
The Trustees confim that they have referred to the guidance contsined in the Charity Commission's general
guidance on public benefft when reviewng the Charity's aims and objectives and in planning for the fi)ture and
in setting the grant making pdicy for the year.
The Tntslees receive applications for donations from a wNJe ¥ar￿ty of apph'cants wkno specialise in the care of
aged people. The Charity, in considen.ng public benefft obl￿atIOnS, has a policy of making granls to a wide
variety of charities and institutions to asslgt old and aged people in England to achieve a better quality of Itfe.
The Charity approve or refuse the applications based on their assessment of the merits of èaeh requèst and
ether the purpose of the awication is wrthÈn the obj.ects of the Chatty.
The Charity makes grant5 onEy to registered charita￿e organisations in England, or lo organisalions in
England. the activitles of which are compatible wih the ¢hantable objecbves of the Charity and which are
exempt from the reqUiren￿nI for charitable registralion.
There was no material change in the FrfJliae3 of the Charrty during the year.

Financial review
The principal activity of the charity is awarding grants. Grants made during the year lotslled £859,50212021-
£3.956,8991. It 15 the policy of the Charity to make awards from income wthin the relevant financial year.
Investrnents held at 5 April 2022 lth￿Ied £343.989 (2021.. £344,089), vknich represent unlisted Investr￿lS
held at cost. The Charty holds shares in and receNed investrnent income from F_W.E.P Limited and Francine
Trust Limited as sel out in notes 3 and 7. The investment income for the year comprised £381,333 (2021..
£228,571) frtjm F.W.E.P Limited and £nil12021.. £nitl from Francine Trust Limited.
Followng the dispos81 of the listed investsment wrtfofK) in the year erKled 5 April 2021. gains on investments
were £nil in the year ended 5 April 2022 (2021.. gains £732.9671 and income from the p)rtfolio of listed
investments was £nil12021' £118,969).
Govemance Costs incurred amounted to £29.380 (2021." £27.770). At 5 A￿.1 2022 the Charity had net assets
of £4,139.95312021.' £4.704.9021.

power to invest.
The Trustees lake a medium to kJng4emi view on the objects of ￿ Chanty and it is antiupaled that the

Future developments
To fulfil their Publ￿ benefft obligations the Trustees intend to continue maknng grants to charitable institutions
operating in the field of old and aged people in England.

It is the policy of the Charty to maintsin funds. vthich are the free reserves of the Charity, al a level to provide
sufficient ftjnds lo cover management. administration and support costs and to respond to emergency

The law applicable to chartiies in England and Wales requires the Trtsstees to p￿pare financia5 statements for
each finanual year %thich give a true ar￿ fair ￿eW of the state of affairs of the Charity and of the incoming
resources and apF4￿ts￿ of restxirces ofthe Charty for that year.
In preparing these finan¢Fal statemènts. the Trustees are required to:

comply with the Charities Act 2011. the Charity (Accounts and Rew)rtsl Regulation5 2008 and the provisions
of the trust deed. They are also reswnsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking
reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and Oth￿ Irregularitie$.

In auditing the financial ststemenls, we have o)ncluded that the TTUStees' use of the wing concem basis of
accounting in the preparation of the finanrAal statements is appropriate.

conditions that, individually or collectively. may cast significant doubt on the Charity's ability to contsnue as

1.1 Accounting convention
The financial ststements have been prepared in accordance wlth the Chanws goveming document, the
Charities Aca 2011 and Accounting and Reporbng by Charibes" Ststement of Recommended Practice
applicable to charib'e$ preparing their accounts in accordan￿ wth the Financial Reporting Stsndard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Irdand (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 20191.

1.2 Going Goncem
Al the time of approving the financial statewthts. the Trust&s t￿e a rea30r￿b￿ expectatson that the
Charty has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeabSe fLrture, being
period of al least fj2 months from the date of signature of the a¢￿unts. Thus the Trustees continue lo
adopt the going concern basis of aCc￿￿ti￿ in preparing the financtal Ststements.
1.3 Fund accounting
General Funds are unrestricted lunds which a￿ available for use al the discretion ol the Trustees in
furtherano of the general objectives of the Chanty and whth have r￿t been dewgnated foi other
purposes.
1.4 Incom•
All income is recognised On￿ the Charity has enb"tlemenl to the income, it is probable that the income wi
