The Activities of the Charity
The principal activity of the Charity is the raising of money by donations and fund raising for the purposes of assisting renal patients within The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
The Charity does not require an Audit.
The books and records are kept according to The Charity Commissioner’s general procedures and directions. These accounts have been prepared accordingly.

We have examined the accounts prepared together with records and information supplied in accordance with instructions received, Without carrying out an audit and confirm that they are in accordance therewith.
In connection with our examination no matter has come to our attention.
(1) which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
(i) to keep proper accounting records, and
(ii) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records

Governance and membership
The charity is an unincorporated association and its current constitution was adopted on 20[th] November 2016.
All renal patients of the The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (“the Trust”) are members of the charity. Relatives and carers of patients may also become members, as may renal medical staff of the Trust.
Seven members are appointed as trustees at the Annual General Meeting. During the year the trustees may appoint up to two additional trustees. All trustees stand down at each Annual General Meeting and may then stand for re-election.
Financial policy
The charity does not have a formal reserves policy.
Public benefit statement
The trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the commission in exercising their powers or duties.
Objectives and activities
The charity offers support to help all renal patients who are being treated by the Trust, their families and carers, and it raises money by donations and fund raising activities to be used for the purposes of the charity. The objectives are fully described in section 3 of the constitution.
Achievements and performance
The coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic has continued to affect the work of the Trustees. All meetings have been carried out over the internet via Zoom. There has been no face to face meetings with staff or patients in the various renal units.
Patients Day Trips, Summer Party and Festive Dinner were all cancelled.
The charity was pleased that staff at the St. Pancras, Tottenham Hale and Barnet dialysis units were once again able to provide December festive period refreshments for their patients. These were funded by the charity, as were gift vouchers for patients whom unit staff identified as being without family companions.
The trustees authorised the purchase of AV equipment for the renal unit along with an Age reader.
Grant-making activities continued as normal although the amount granted was less than last year (2021). The amount of incoming donations was also reduced.
The charity expresses its thanks for:

The continued generosity of members and others who provide funds, without which it could not carry out its work for the benefit of patients. These include bequests, and monthly or one-off donations.

Trustees and committee members who continued to attend meetings during the year using the Zoom internet facility.

The continued dedication of Royal Free staff caring for renal patients in the very difficult circumstances of the covid pandemic, especially noting that by the nature of their work they were particularly exposed to the virus and often had to work short-handed when colleagues had to self-isolate.
