**1ST RICHMOND (ST MATTHIAS) SCOUT GROUP TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2021 – 2022** Our Scout Group is a member of the Scout Association and it is our aim to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. This is done by providing a scheme of progressive training, based on the scout promise and law, and guided by adult leadership. This has been another difficult year due to Coronavirus but our wonderful Leaders have continued to provide a variety of activities for each Section online via Zoom and more recently with a return to face to face Section meetings, all the time following the guidelines provided by the Scout Association. We are very grateful to all those parents who have supported us during these difficult times by continuing to pay the reduced termly subs, and in some cases, have generously continued to pay the normal pre Covid subscription amounts. Financially, the Group is doing well – our termly subs were down 45% against our pre Covid amount, which therefore led to a decreased Gift Aid amount and we were not able to do any of our usual fundraising such as the May Fair and Ham Fair, but we were very lucky to receive Grants totalling £12,496 during the year from Richmond Council which were given to local community groups and businesses. These grants helped to offset our loss of income. The reduction in income was due to the reduced subscriptions and also to the reduced number of children in the Group. However, the future is looking brighter as we are back to receiving full subscription amounts, and the number of children is starting to increase. We hope to restart our second Beaver Colony by the end of the year as long as we are able to obtain parental help and a Leader to run the Section. Of course there have been no camping activities this year due to Coronavirus and these have been greatly missed by the Leaders and all our young people. 12 scouts were able to take part in the County Night Hike at the end of the year, and they all did really well – we were very proud of them. However, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have taken part in a wide range of activities during the year and there are many photographs of these on our Facebook page. The Facebook page is a Closed Group so we have control over who can see the photographs. As stated before, we are only able to operate so successfully due to the many hours of hard work put in by our Section Leaders and our Executive Committee members.
