**Objects:** TO ENCOURAGE THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ART OF THE FILM AND TO PROMOTE ITS USE AS A RECORD OF CONTEMPORARY LIFE AND MANNERS WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE COUNTY OF HAMPSHIRE AND THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON (BUT WITHOUT IMPOSING ANY LIMITATION ON THE AREA OF ITS ACTIVITIES TO FOSTER THE STUDY AND APPRECIATION OF IT FROM THESE POINTS OF VIEW.

**Activities:** In association with the Union Films of Southampton University Students Union, The Phoenix (Southampton Film Theatre) periodically shows a wide range of films to subscribing members of the general public and members of Union Films. Its aims are to provide entertainment, to encourage an appreciation of the medium of film and to promote the use of film as a record of contemporary life.
