Burg•ss Hill Choral Society 202312024
The aim of Burgess Hill Choral Society (BHCS). as set out in its Cffistitution.
is to advan￿ education in the art and Scien￿ of music by the presentatK)n of
public concerts and other activities.
This aim has been met over the last year in very SUC￿ssful con￿rtS which
have attracted large aUdIen￿S arKI re￿iVed much critical acclaim. In
December 2023 the s￿Iety perfomed Ritter's Magnificat and Vaughan
Williams Fantasia on Christmas Cards as well as carols for choir and
audience. In April 2024. the choir performed Haydn's CTration. Soloists
from the Royal Academy of Music were engaged for these concerts and we
were aCCompan￿d by a full orchestra. Feedback suggests that such events
are highly valued for their contribution to local cultural life
In addition to these Con￿rtS, the Society hosted a well evaluat￿1 and
attended Come Sing Day in June 2024 when there was a focus on
choruses from Handel's Mes&ah. In addth.on to choir members themselves,
this Day attracted parts"cipants from across the locality.
A range of social events, including, for example a Bnng and Share evening
and annual dinner, y￿re hekl throughout the season and these events have
add￿ much to the wellbeing of the Society.
BHCS contirnes to attract robust rnembefship figures and is led by a strong
committee with a clear focus on the sound govemance of BHCS. We are
de1￿hted to retain the seNices of Michael Stefan Wood BEM as our musical
director and Jonathan Summers OAM as our PresidenL
The priorities for the current season are to maintsin eX￿llen￿ in perfo￿an￿.
conts'nue to grow the Societys membership arKI its audien￿ ￿ con￿rtS as
well as ensure the group's financial secunty.

public con￿rtS and other activities.
