Objects, Organisxtion and Adivities
The group was fomied to further the education of the public. particularly young ￿rSOn4 in the art and
science of music by the presentation of concerts and other activities. Th¢ orchestrd has been in
existence since 1959, whilst the choir was fornied in 1964. The group 15 unusual in that it comprises
of an orchestra and choir of over 200 vnembers. Over the years the average age has increased,
covering a wider range of ages, but still attrncting rnem￿rs in their teens
Public Benefits
The Iruslees have paid due regard to guidance given by the Charity Commission on Public Benefit tn
dcciding what activities the charity should undertake.
During a nornial y¢ar: the activilies undertaken to achieve the aims of the Group are-
3 Major Concerts each year involving the full Choir and Orchestra organised by the Group as
ticketed events for the general public at venues with a typical capacity of 700 seats.
4 CommuDity Concerts each year involving a small group of players and singers at events
organised by other chariti¢s lo help them rnise funds for worthy ¢auses.
Musi¢ Study Days typically held once every 2 years to educate its members and others from
similar musical organisations.
UK or foreign Tours typically held every 3 years involving a small group ￿Orni1ng a
number of concerts oler 3 days at selected venues and i)¢casionally in conjunction with
similar l(Kal owisations.
Perfonnances at Local Major Music Events by other Organisations.
Our Bursary Scheme which supwjrts memlws in furthering their musical education.
Review of Progr￿ and achievelljents
In this year Trianon perfornied a full season of three main concerts plus three ciymmunTty concetts and
hosted a musi¢ workshop on Puccini's Messa di Glori
The first two main concerts were perforni¢d in Sept 2023 and Jan 2024 at Ipswich Corn Exchange.
The third was in April 2024 at St John's Church Cauldwell Hall Roa¢ Ipswi¢h.
All three wncerts attracted positive feedback from review¢TS and the Group attracted sponsorship for
all three major conccrts from Ass(Kiated British P(rt Ipswich Rotsry and the Friends of Trianon.
The memkr5hip lists currently stand at 95 choir {37 &)ps.28 Ahos I l Tenors & 19 Bases) and l 01
orchcstrd. Cholr section numbers continue to rdise Concern because often members cannol commit to
all concerts or rehearsals and therefore singers from other chotrs are increasingly having to be called
upon in order to meet the numbers required for a perfonnance. The orchestra also has to manage the
availability of players but in gencrdl has been successful in attrdcting new membets.

TRIANON MUSIC GROUP
Aonual Report for the year ended 30 April 21124 (Continued)
The comiTtg year will see us exploring new ideas for strengthening key sections. Failure to strengthen
however will impact the scope of music the Group can perform.
Itk addition to the main concerts, the Group received invitations to E￿Orni three Community Conc¢rts

Due to illness our Artistic Direclor Emeritus Professor Christopher Green OBE was unable to conduct
our three main concerts, atKI wc are exlremely grateful to the conductors (listed later in this report)
who willingly accepted our invitation to take up the baton.
Throughout the year the management team has continued to meet regularly (using vide(xonfer¢n¢ing)
to ensurc due diligence in the operdtion of th¢ charity, 2nd greater use is being made of emailed
newsletters and the Group's website to keep memlKr5 informed of activities. We continue to monitor
and tninimize the costs of issuing communications to members (Trianon News) and othcr
administration costs, and this allows us to keep memlKrship subscription rate5 amongst the lowest in

Contingencies which may arise include la* minute ¢ancellation of major covtcerts (this ￿Curred in
January 2022 du¢ to the Covid 19 pandewnic, and in January 2010 due to bad weather). paying guest
conductor's fees in the event of the Artistic Ditrctor's illne&s, storage costs (the current musical
director does not charge for his services and provides stornge for music and instruments at relatively
low cost), and the costs of replacing musical instruments.
The trustees have established a policy whereby unrestricted fimds not already designated should
represent at least 12 rnonths of nonDal operdti(mal expenditure, or approximately £24,000 in the year
to 30" April 2024.
At this level, the trustees are confident that the 8roup would be abl¢ to cary on its a¢tivitie5 in the
event of a significant shortfall in in¢ome.
The trustees will review the amount of rescrves requireil on a regular basis at manag¢ment meetings.
